Description
Ordered as a skid steer concrete pump, a self-powered skid unit or a towable road trailer, the Ventures Equipment concrete grout pump (3/8 Special) moves 10-12 cubic yards an hour through a 4 in. heavy-duty outlet and handles mixes with aggregate up to 3/8 in. A progressive cavity rotor and stator does the work, so output is constant and material does not surge at the hose end or the nozzle - the difference between a clean shotcrete pass and a wasted one. Six configurations are offered and the choice is really a choice of power source: the SSU runs on your loader's auxiliary hydraulics and needs 15 GPM at 2,500 PSI with a case drain; the SS sits on a skid frame with either a 37 HP gas engine or 220 V electric drive; the ST puts the same pump on a DOT trailer you can tow with a half-ton pickup, in gas or diesel, with wireless remote control on the diesel builds. All six share the 8 cubic foot hopper, the adjustable stator that re-tensions as it wears, and a 1-year limited warranty. Built in North Texas, USA.

The pump discharges through a standard 4 in. concrete flange when the 2L8 rotor and stator is fitted. The 6012 unit can be supplied with either a flange or a 2 in. male NPT outlet, and camlock connection is supported, so existing placement hose can usually be reused rather than replaced.
Reducers, hoses, couplings, clamps and spray nozzles are all fitted at the outlet to suit the application - shotcrete and spray work use a nozzle assembly, while form and pour work runs a straight hose. The machine also ships with a pressure tester that checks rotor and stator condition before each use and confirms the setup will reach the distance and height the pour needs.
Fitting sizes above are the manufacturer's published outlet interfaces. If you are matching hose you already own, check your coupling type against the 4 in. flange or camlock before you order accessories.
The 3/8 Special is supplied in three different mounting arrangements, and only one of them attaches to a machine. Select the configuration that matches how you intend to power and move the pump:
1. SSU - Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach (SSQA). As a concrete pump skid steer attachment, the SSU carries a universal skid steer quick attach plate and takes all of its power from the host machine's auxiliary hydraulics. It fits skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with a standard SSQA plate, including:
Hydraulic requirement: a minimum of 15 GPM at 2,500 PSI on the auxiliary circuit. Connection is by 1/2 in. flat-faced couplers on the pressure and return lines, and the hydraulic motor needs a case drain line back to source - a third, low-pressure return that carries internal motor leakage. A machine without a case drain port will shorten motor seal life. The SSU weighs 885 lb empty, so check that figure plus the weight of the material in an 8 cubic foot hopper against your loader's rated operating capacity. Fork pockets are fitted as well, so the unit can be moved by forklift when it is off the loader.
2. SS - Skid mounted, self-powered. The skid configurations do not attach to a machine at all. They sit on a skid frame with forklift access slots and carry their own drive: either a 37 HP electric-start gas engine with an 8-gallon fuel tank, or a 220 V electric motor on the 220 Volt build. No loader, no auxiliary hydraulics and no quick attach plate are involved. The electric build produces no exhaust, which is what makes it the option for indoor and enclosed spaces.
3. ST - Trailer mounted, towable. The trailer builds are highway-registered machines, not attachments. They carry DOT approved tires and lights, a 2 in. ball coupling hitch of the Bull Dog type welded to the chassis, axle brakes with an electrical breakaway device, and a 7-way RV blade connector for the tow vehicle. The single axle is rated 5,200 lb against a trailer weight of about 2,600 lb, and the manufacturer rates the unit for towing behind a 1/2-ton pickup. Your tow vehicle needs a 2 in. ball, a 7-way connector and a tow rating that covers 2,600 lb plus material.
Three things decide which configuration you need: which drive suits the work, and then either your loader's auxiliary flow, pressure and case drain port for the SSU, or your tow vehicle's hitch ball size and rating for the ST.
Everything needed to confirm fitment is on this page - add it to your cart to see delivered pricing for your address. We ask for your machine make and model on the order page and confirm the mount and hydraulics with you after the order is placed.
One machine covers work that is usually split across several. As a masonry grout pump it fills block cores and structural voids; as a shotcrete pump it feeds a spray nozzle for slope, pool and repair work; and on the SSU it runs as a hydraulic grout pump driven by a loader you already own, which is the cheapest route to a concrete pump for skid steer work. The concrete pump trailer builds turn the same pump end into a towable concrete pump that follows the crew between sites, and the skid builds sit still and run on their own engine.
Inspect the pump before you sign. Skid builds arrive strapped to their own skid frame and trailer builds arrive on their wheels, so check the hopper, the grate and - on trailer builds - the lights, tires and coupler before the driver leaves. Note any damage on the Bill of Lading at the moment of delivery; a signed clean BOL closes the carrier claim on a machine of this value.
Choose by power source. Order the SSU as a skid steer grout pump if you already run a loader with 15 GPM at 2,500 PSI auxiliary hydraulics and a case drain - it has no engine of its own. Order an SS skid build if you want the pump self-powered but stationary, in 37 HP gas or 220 V electric. Order an ST trailer build if the pump has to move between sites behind a pickup, available in gas or in diesel with wireless remote control.
The SSU needs a minimum of 15 GPM at 2,500 PSI from the host machine's auxiliary hydraulic circuit. Connection is through 1/2 in. flat-faced couplers on the pressure and return lines.
Yes. The SSU's hydraulic drive motor uses three hoses - two for directional flow and a case drain that returns internal motor leakage to source. Running the motor without a case drain connected shortens seal life and reduces motor performance.
The SSU uses a universal skid steer quick attach (SSQA) plate, so it fits skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with a standard SSQA mount regardless of brand. Fitment is decided by the mount plate and by hydraulic capability, not by the badge on the machine - confirm your quick attach configuration and your auxiliary flow before ordering.
The SSU weighs 885 lb empty. Add the weight of material in the 8 cubic foot hopper and compare the total against your loader's rated operating capacity, not its tipping load.
Yes. Ventures Equipment rates the 3/8 Special trailer for towing with a 1/2-ton pickup. The 3/8 Special trailer weighs approximately 2,600 lb against a 5,200 lb rated single axle, and the trailer needs a 2 in. ball hitch and a 7-way RV blade connector on the tow vehicle.
The 3/8 Special trailer is a highway-registered towable machine with DOT approved tires and lights, axle brakes and an electrical breakaway device that applies the brakes if the trailer uncouples. No separate trailer needs to be sourced or certified.
The 3/8 Special handles material with aggregate up to 3/8 in. (10 mm) - pea gravel size. That covers masonry grout, self-consolidating concrete, shotcrete, slurry, lightweight concrete and 3/8 in. ready-mix.
The two units are rated to different working pressures: a 2L8 rotor and stator is pressure tested to 150 PSI and a 6012 to 300 PSI. The 2L8 discharges through a 4 in. concrete flange; the 6012 can be supplied with a flange, a camlock, or a 2 in. male NPT outlet. Higher pumping distance and lift point to the 6012.
The 3/8 Special is supplied with an adjustable stator. As the elastomer wears, the clamping sleeve is tightened evenly in small increments to restore working pressure, so the part is not replaced at the first sign of pressure loss. Over-tightening causes premature wear and heats the material, so pressure-test between adjustments.
Stop the pump and move the control to reverse to relieve line pressure through the pump, then clear the line. Reverse should only be run for a few seconds at a time - it is a recovery function, not an operating mode.
Grease the drive shaft seal daily, or after each clean-down, through the zerk in the motor flange, using a water-resistant, corrosion-inhibiting extreme-pressure grease. Wash the hopper and run foam balls through the hose after every job - material left to set is the main cause of seal and stator damage. Never run the pump dry.
Ventures Equipment warrants the machine free of defects in material and workmanship for one year from delivery, to the initial user. Normal wear parts are excluded - pins, bushings, seals, rotors, stators, hoses, shaft couplings and connectors, pump shafts, filter elements, batteries and tires.
