    📘 Overview

A hydraulic thumb for excavator work, built model-specific: the Amulet PowerClamp is made for your exact machine and shares the bucket’s main pin, so the thumb and bucket work as one against each other. It is offered in four configurations, and the choice matters more than any other spec on this page. Non-linkage pins the hydraulic cylinder directly to the clamp for roughly 140° of rotation. Progressive linkage puts a linkage between the cylinder and the clamp, which buys you a more complete sweep of roughly 180°. Each of those is built either for a machine running a plain pin-on bucket, or for a machine running a quick coupler. Eleven machine weight classes, 1-3 Ton through 40-50 Ton.

Model-specific fit. Specify your excavator make, model and year when ordering.

Where this excavator thumb differs from a universal one: the shared main pin means the tines close into your bucket rather than alongside it. You are effectively running an excavator bucket with thumb as a matched pair. On the smallest classes it is a mini excavator thumb at 75 lb; on the largest it is a 2,350 lb clamp. Amulet also builds the universal PowerBrute if a lower-cost, fits-most-machines excavator thumb attachment suits your work better.

🔩 PowerClamp Clamp Styles — Which One You Need

This is the decision the rest of the page hangs on. Amulet builds the PowerClamp in two mechanical styles, each available for machines with or without a quick coupler — four combinations in total:

Style Mechanism Rotation Choose It When
Non-Linkage (PCN) Hydraulic cylinder pinned directly to the clamp ~140° Your machine runs a plain pin-on bucket and 140° covers your work — the lower-cost of the two mechanisms
Non-Linkage for Coupler (PCNC) Cylinder pinned directly; built around a quick coupler ~140° Same mechanism, but your machine has a quick coupler between the stick and the bucket
Progressive Linkage (PCL) Progressive linkage between cylinder and clamp ~180° You need the fuller sweep — the linkage keeps clamping force useful through a much wider arc
Linkage for Coupler (GLC / PCLC) Progressive linkage; built around a quick coupler ~180° You want the 180° sweep and your machine runs a quick coupler

The practical difference: a non-linkage thumb is pinned straight to the cylinder, so its useful clamping range is the cylinder’s stroke. The progressive linkage multiplies that into a wider arc, which is what you want when you are picking up material of very different sizes without repositioning the machine. Linkage styles are not offered below the 5-6 Ton class, and the linkage-for-coupler build starts at 10-15 Ton — the options above show only what is actually built for your machine.

    🔧 Amulet PowerClamp Key Features

    • Model-specific build — every PowerClamp is made for one excavator model, not adapted to it. That is why make, model and year are required at ordering.
    • Shared main pin — the thumb pivots on the bucket’s own main pin, so thumb and bucket mesh precisely instead of fighting each other.
    • Custom meshing tines, cut to interlock with your bucket. On excavators over 20,000 lb Amulet supplies a full meshing tooth bar instead, with wider or narrower tooth arrangement available.
    • Serrated teeth with webbing for positive gripping action on round and irregular material.
    • Cushioned hydraulic cylinders with extra heavy-duty rods — the cushioning absorbs end-of-stroke shock that kills uncushioned thumbs.
    • Induction-hardened, large-diameter pins and bushings throughout.
    • Heavy gussets and reinforcement where the loads concentrate.
    • Retracts close to the dipper when not in use, so it is out of the way for normal digging.
    • High-strength alloy steel construction — T-1 and AR400 on non-linkage builds.
    • 2-year warranty, 100% made in the USA at Amulet’s plant in Rathdrum, Idaho.

⭐ Why Contractors Specify a PowerClamp

    • It grips like a thumb, not like a claw. An excavator hydraulic thumb that shares the bucket’s main pin means the tines close into the bucket rather than alongside it — the difference between holding a log and dropping it.
    • 180° is a different tool from 140°. If your work runs from rip rap to full-size timber, the progressive-linkage build holds both without repositioning. That is what you are paying the difference for.
    • Built for the abuse. Amulet rates the PowerClamp for demolition, land clearing, erosion control, general construction and solid waste handling — five application classes, on the same thumb.
    • Cushioning is not a luxury on a thumb. A hydraulic thumb slams at end of stroke every cycle. Cushioned cylinders with heavy rods are why these last through a demolition season.
    • It gets out of the way. Retracting tight to the dipper means you are not choosing between having a thumb and being able to dig.

    🚜 PowerClamp Machine Compatibility

The PowerClamp is a model-specific, shared-main-pin hydraulic thumb. Fitment is determined by your machine weight class and by your machine’s bucket pin and boss dimensions — and, critically, by whether your machine runs a quick coupler, which decides between the standard and for-coupler builds. Find your machine below to identify its weight class, then select that class and your clamp style from the options above.

    Weight Class Machine Weight
    1-3 Ton 2,000–6,000 lb

Find your machine in the chart, then choose that weight class from the options at the top of this page and add it to your cart.

Machine list from the 2026 Amulet price book, filtered to the weight classes this product covers. Not every machine listed accepts every Amulet product. The PowerClamp also requires a two-way hydraulic circuit on the stick — note that two hoses running up the stick does not always mean two-way hydraulics. If your machine is not listed, or you are not sure which class it falls into, send us your make, model and year on chat or at support@eskidsteer.com and we will confirm it.

🧱 What the PowerClamp Is Rated For

    • Demolition — sorting and loading broken concrete, steel and mixed debris with control a bucket alone cannot give.
    • Land clearing — gripping brush, stumps and timber for removal and stacking.
    • Erosion control — placing rip rap and rock armour precisely on slopes and channel banks.
    • General construction — pipe handling, material placement and everyday grabbing work.
    • Solid waste handling — transfer station and scrap work where an open bucket loses material.
    • Logging — log and debris loading, which is where the 180° progressive linkage build earns its price.

    ❓ PowerClamp — Common Questions

What is the difference between the linkage and non-linkage PowerClamp?

Mechanism and rotation. On the non-linkage PowerClamp the hydraulic cylinder is pinned directly to the clamp, giving approximately 140° of thumb rotation. On the progressive-linkage PowerClamp a linkage sits between the cylinder and the clamp, which gives a more complete sweep of approximately 180°. Both are model-specific and both share the bucket’s main pin. The linkage build costs more and weighs more; you are buying rotation.

What does “for coupler” mean on a PowerClamp?

It means the thumb is built for a machine that runs a quick coupler between the stick and the bucket, rather than a plain pin-on bucket. Both mechanisms are offered either way — PCN and PCL for pin-on machines, PCNC and GLC/PCLC for coupler machines. Getting this wrong is the most common ordering error on a shared-pin thumb, so check your machine before selecting.

    Which PowerClamp fits my excavator?

The PowerClamp is sold by machine weight class, from 1-3 Ton through 40-50 Ton, and built model-specifically within that class. Find your machine in the compatibility table on this page to identify its weight class, select that class, then choose your clamp style. Specify make, model and year at checkout. If you are unsure which class your machine is in, ask us on chat or at support@eskidsteer.com.

Do I get meshing tines or a tooth bar?

It depends on machine size. Amulet supplies custom meshing tines cut to interlock with your bucket on smaller machines, and on excavators over 20,000 lb a full meshing tooth bar instead. The tooth bar is available in wider or narrower tooth arrangements depending on the material you handle.

Does the PowerClamp need hydraulics on my machine?

Yes. The PowerClamp is a hydraulic excavator thumb and requires a two-way hydraulic circuit on the stick. Be careful here — two hoses running up your stick does not necessarily mean you have two-way hydraulics, which is a different plumbing arrangement. If you are not certain what your machine has, ask us on chat or at support@eskidsteer.com before ordering.

How is the PowerClamp different from the Amulet PowerBrute?

The PowerClamp is model-specific and shares the bucket’s main pin — it is built for your exact machine and the tines mesh into your bucket. The PowerBrute is a universal, weld-on thumb with an independent main pin that fits most makes and models and costs considerably less. Choose the PowerClamp when you want precise meshing and maximum grip on one machine; choose the PowerBrute when you want a lower-cost thumb, or one that survives a rental fleet.

Will the thumb get in the way when I am just digging?

No. The PowerClamp retracts hydraulically to sit close against the dipper when it is not in use, so normal bucket work is unaffected. It does not have to be removed between jobs.

What warranty comes with the PowerClamp?

Amulet lists a 2-year warranty on the PowerClamp and manufactures it entirely in the USA at their plant in Rathdrum, Idaho. Note that on hydraulic products, cylinders, valves, fittings, hoses and couplers are commonly warranted for a shorter term than the structure — check the warranty documentation supplied with your thumb for the exact split.

How is shipping calculated on the PowerClamp?

Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout — add the thumb to your cart and enter your delivery address and the freight cost is quoted before you pay. PowerClamp weight runs from 75 lb on the smallest class to 2,350 lb on the largest, so freight varies substantially by the class and clamp style you select.

How do I order a PowerClamp?

Order directly on eskidsteer.com. Select your machine weight class and clamp style above, add to cart and complete checkout, specifying your excavator make, model and year so the thumb is built to your machine. Everything you need to choose the right model is on this page; if anything is still unclear, chat or email support@eskidsteer.com and we will answer before you order.
