    📘 Overview

A weld on excavator thumb that fits almost anything: the Amulet PowerBrute is a low-cost, universally fitting hydraulic thumb suiting most makes and models of backhoe and excavator, old and new. Its base plate welds to your boom and it runs an independent main pin, separate from the bucket pin, so bucket changes never require removing the thumb. Amulet builds seven models covering machines from 2,500 lb to 100,000 lb, in two connector configurations: the standard weld-on base plate build, and a coupler pin-on build for machines running a quick coupler. Narrow-bodied and true-universal, it works with virtually any bucket the host machine will accept.

Specify your excavator make, model and year and your connector configuration when ordering.

It ships as a complete excavator thumb kit — thumb, full-length base plate with mount stop and remote hinge pin, and cushioned cylinder. On the small classes it is a mini excavator hydraulic thumb at 60 lb, and the same design scales to 1,300 lb for 50-ton machines, so one excavator thumb attachment covers a mixed fleet. If you want a model-specific hydraulic thumb for excavator work with tines that mesh into your bucket, Amulet builds the PowerClamp instead.

🔩 PowerBrute Weld On Excavator Thumb — Connector Configurations

The PowerBrute is offered in several builds, and the option list on this page reflects what is available for your machine class. Getting this right matters: it determines how the thumb attaches to your machine.

Configuration How It Mounts Choose It When
Weld-On Base Plate (PB) A full-length base plate welds to the boom, carrying the mount stop and the remote main hinge pin Your machine runs a plain pin-on bucket. This is the standard build and the lower-cost of the two
Coupler Pin-On with Weld-On Base Plate (PBC) Same weld-on base plate, built to work with a quick coupler between stick and bucket Your machine has a quick coupler. The remote main pin means the thumb works with the coupler rather than fighting it
Thumb-Ready Existing OEM Cylinder Mount Pins to the thumb cylinder mount your machine already carries, instead of to a new weld-on plate Your excavator left the factory thumb-ready. Tell us your make, model and year and we will confirm the build before the order is processed
Case & John Deere A build specific to certain Case and John Deere backhoe and excavator mountings Your machine is one of the models this build is made for — it covers a narrow model set, not the whole brand. Confirm with us before ordering

Amulet’s literature is explicit on why the remote main pin matters: it works great with all buckets and quick couplers, and makes changing buckets and other attachments a breeze — no need to remove the thumb. That is the practical case for the PowerBrute over a shared-pin thumb.

The weld-on base plate and coupler pin-on builds are the two configurations Amulet lists across every machine class in its current price book. The thumb-ready OEM cylinder mount and Case & John Deere builds are machine-specific and are not in that price book — if you select either, we confirm the build with Amulet against your make, model and year before the order is processed.

    🔧 Amulet PowerBrute Key Features

    • Universal fit — fits most makes and models of backhoe and excavator, both old and new, rather than being built for one machine.
    • Independent, remote main pin — the thumb pivots on its own pin, not the bucket pin, so you change buckets without removing the thumb and put no extra stress on the bucket pin.
    • Full-length weld-on base plate on most models, including the mount stop and the remote main hinge pin. Easy installation.
    • Universal two-tine design with a narrow body, so it works with virtually any bucket the host machine will accept.
    • High-strength alloy that maximises performance while minimising the extra weight added to the dipper stick.
    • Open back design for improved visibility to the work.
    • Large-diameter hardened pins and bushings throughout, with grease zerks on the main pin and hydraulic cylinder.
    • Cushioned cylinder with heat-treated pins.
    • Stores hydraulically tight against the dipper stick when not in use.
    • Thumb curls independent of the bucket — useful in demolition, rock placement and land clearing where you want to work the thumb alone.
    • 2-year warranty, 100% made in the USA at Amulet’s plant in Rathdrum, Idaho.

⭐ Why the PowerBrute Is Amulet’s Most Popular Thumb

    • Low cost, universal fit. It is the answer when a model-specific thumb costs more than the job justifies, or when you need one thumb design across a mixed fleet.
    • Rental fleets run it for a reason. No shared pin means no machine-specific fitting, and low maintenance means it comes back from hire without a service bill.
    • Bucket changes stay fast. With the main pin independent, swapping buckets is unaffected by the thumb being fitted — on a shared-pin thumb it is not.
    • Less weight where it hurts. High-strength alloy keeps the mass down at the end of the stick, where every pound costs you lift capacity.
    • It sees what it is doing. The open back design means you can actually watch the material you are gripping.
    • It fits old machines. A universal weld-on design does not care whether your excavator is current-model or twenty years old — if you want an excavator with thumb capability on a machine nobody builds parts for any more, this is usually the answer.

    PBC-8 (Coupler Pin-On)
    1180–1300 lb

Both connector configurations are built across every class. Thumb weight is the range across the two builds — the coupler build is the heavier. Weight determines what the thumb costs you in lift capacity and what the freight costs at checkout.

    🚜 PowerBrute Machine Compatibility

The PowerBrute is a universal weld-on hydraulic thumb. The base plate welds to your boom, so fitment is determined by machine weight class rather than by an exact model match — and by whether your machine runs a quick coupler, which decides between the two connector builds. Find your machine below to identify its weight class, then select that class and your configuration from the options above.

    Weight Class Machine Weight
    1-3 Ton 2,000–6,000 lb
    3-5 Ton 6,000–10,000 lb

Find your machine in the chart, then choose that weight class from the options at the top of this page and add it to your cart.

Machine list from the 2026 Amulet price book, filtered to the weight classes this product covers. Not every machine listed accepts every Amulet product. The PowerBrute requires a two-way hydraulic circuit on the stick — note that two hoses running up the stick does not always mean two-way hydraulics. If your machine is not listed, or you are not sure which class it falls into, send us your make, model and year on chat or at support@eskidsteer.com and we will confirm it.

    ❓ PowerBrute — Common Questions

What is the difference between the weld-on and coupler PowerBrute?

Both builds use the same full-length weld-on base plate. The standard PB build is for a machine running a plain pin-on bucket. The PBC build is for a machine that has a quick coupler between the stick and the bucket. Because the PowerBrute’s main pin is independent of the bucket pin, it works with quick couplers rather than against them — but the geometry differs, so order the build that matches your machine.

Does the thumb have to be removed to change buckets?

No. That is the central advantage of the PowerBrute’s remote main pin. The thumb pivots on its own pin rather than sharing the bucket pin, so buckets and other attachments come off and go on with the thumb still fitted, and no extra stress is put on the bucket pin.

Will the PowerBrute fit my machine?

Almost certainly. As a thumb for mini excavator through full-size machines, the PowerBrute is a true universal design, fitting most makes and models of backhoe and excavator, both old and new, across seven models covering 2,500 lb to 100,000 lb machines. Select your machine weight class from the options above. If your machine is unusual or heavily modified, send us the make, model and year on chat or at support@eskidsteer.com and we will check it.

How is the PowerBrute different from the PowerClamp?

The PowerBrute is universal, weld-on and uses an independent main pin — lower cost, fits most machines, and buckets change without removing it. The PowerClamp is model-specific and shares the bucket’s main pin, with custom tines that mesh into your bucket for maximum grip. Choose the PowerBrute for value, fleet flexibility and easy bucket changes; choose the PowerClamp when precise meshing and maximum gripping force on one machine matter more.

Does the PowerBrute need hydraulics on my machine?

Yes. The PowerBrute is a hydraulic thumb and requires a two-way hydraulic circuit on the stick. Two hoses running up your stick does not necessarily mean you have two-way hydraulics. If you are unsure, ask us on chat or at support@eskidsteer.com before ordering.

Does the base plate really have to be welded on?

Yes — the PowerBrute mounts via a full-length base plate welded to the boom, which on most models carries the mount stop and the remote main hinge pin. Amulet designed it for straightforward installation, but it is a welding job and should be done by someone competent to weld on structural boom steel.

Is the PowerBrute suitable for rental machines?

Yes, and it is popular for exactly that. Universal fit means one thumb design suits a mixed fleet, low maintenance means it comes back without a service bill, and the independent main pin means renters can change buckets without touching the thumb.

Can I curl the thumb without moving the bucket?

Yes. The PowerBrute curls independent of the bucket, which is what you want in demolition, rock placement and land clearing where the thumb is doing the work and the bucket is just backing it up.

What warranty comes with the PowerBrute?

Amulet lists a 2-year warranty on the PowerBrute and manufactures it entirely in the USA at Rathdrum, Idaho. On hydraulic products, cylinders, valves, fittings, hoses and couplers are commonly warranted for a shorter term than the structure — check the documentation supplied with your thumb for the exact split.

How is shipping calculated on the PowerBrute?

Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout. Add the thumb to your cart and enter your delivery address and the freight cost is quoted before you pay. PowerBrute weight runs from 60 lb to 1,300 lb across the range, so freight varies by the class you select.

How do I order a PowerBrute?

Order directly on eskidsteer.com. Select your machine weight class and connector configuration above, add to cart and complete checkout, specifying your excavator make, model and year. Everything you need to choose the right model is on this page; if anything is still unclear, chat or email support@eskidsteer.com and we will answer before you order.
