    📘 Overview

The HoeMate excavator rake from Amulet is a severe-duty multi-tine rake that replaces your bucket and turns any rigid, mechanical or hydraulic thumb into an open-tine grapple in minutes — without the cost of a dedicated clam-shell or “orange peel” grapple. Eleven models cover backhoe loaders and excavators from the 1-3 Ton class through the 40-50 Ton class, and the HoeMate ships in two tine configurations: the 3-Tine standard, built to Amulet’s published model for your machine weight class, and the 4/5-Tine custom, made to order from 36" to 48" wide with up to five tines and the tine spacing set to your work. Serrated tines, T-1 and AR400 steel, no moving parts, no hydraulics required.

Often searched as an excavator rake bucket: the HoeMate is not a bucket with tines cut into it. It replaces the bucket on the same pins, which is why material passes through instead of collecting inside. Mini excavator rake models begin at 95 lb for 1-3 Ton machines, so the smallest carriers in the range can run one without losing lift capacity.

    🔧 HoeMate Rake Key Features

    • Pin-on bucket replacement — mounts on the same pins your bucket uses, with no welding, no base plate and no machine modification.
    • Works opposite any thumb type — rigid, mechanical or hydraulic. The HoeMate does the gripping against whatever thumb the machine already carries.
    • Serrated tines that bite into rock, brush and debris instead of sliding off, increasing grasping ability over a smooth-edged bucket.
    • T-1 and AR400 alloy steel construction throughout — the same plate Amulet uses on its severe-duty thumbs.
    • Zero moving parts and zero hydraulics — nothing to service, nothing to leak, and no auxiliary circuit needed on the host machine.
    • Eleven machine-class models, R1 through R8, covering 2,000 lb backhoes up to 100,000+ lb excavators.
    • Custom tine spacing available on the 4/5-Tine build, so the rake can be matched to the material you handle or to a specific thumb or bucket.
    • 2-year warranty, 100% made in the USA at Amulet’s plant in Rathdrum, Idaho.

⭐ Why Operators Choose the HoeMate Rake

    • A grapple for a fraction of the price. A dedicated clam-shell or orange-peel grapple is a limited-use purchase. The HoeMate creates the same open-tine grip using the thumb you already own, and comes off in minutes when you need the bucket back.
    • One attachment across the whole job. Rock placement, waste transfer and landscaping through to demolition, boulder handling and log handling — Amulet rates the HoeMate for everyday work and extreme-duty work on the same head.
    • Material falls through, not into the bucket. Open tines let dirt and fines pass while the rake holds the brush, roots, rock and debris you actually want to move — the reason an excavator root rake or excavator brush rake clears ground faster than a bucket.
    • Nothing to maintain. No cylinders, no pins to grease, no hoses to route up the stick. On a rental fleet that means one less attachment that comes back needing service.
    • Sized to your machine, not to a range. Every HoeMate is built for a specific weight class, from a 95 lb R1 for a 3-ton mini up to a 2,990 lb R8 for a 50-ton excavator.

    🔩 HoeMate Rake Tine Configurations

Every HoeMate is built for a specific excavator weight class. On the 1-3 Ton through 8-10 Ton classes you also choose how the rake head itself is configured.

Configuration Built As Choose It When
3-Tine Standard Amulet’s published model for your machine weight class, in fixed tine spacing General rock, brush, debris and demolition handling — the configuration most operators run
4/5-Tine Custom Made to order — 36" to 48" wide, four or five tines, tine spacing built to your requirement You are handling material a three-tine head lets through, or you need the tine spacing to mesh with a particular thumb or bucket

The 4/5-Tine Custom is available on the 1-3 Ton through 8-10 Ton machine classes. Select your excavator weight class and tine configuration above, then add your width and tine spacing in the order notes at checkout. If you are not sure which configuration suits your material, call eskidsteer.com at (866) 757-8337 before ordering and we will size it with you.

📊 HoeMate Excavator Rake Model Range by Machine Weight Class

    8-10 Ton 16,000–20,000 lb R2 390 lb Available
    10-15 Ton 20,000–30,000 lb R3 950 lb
    15-20 Ton 30,000–40,000 lb R4 1200 lb
    20-25 Ton 40,000–50,000 lb R5 1550 lb
    25-30 Ton 50,000–60,000 lb R6 2100 lb
    30-40 Ton 60,000–80,000 lb R7 2200 lb
    40-50 Ton 80,000–100,000 lb R8 2990 lb

On the 10-15 Ton class and above the rake is listed as 4-Tine or 5-Tine. Amulet publishes those larger models simply as “RAKE” with no tine designation, so the tine count shown on those classes is our description rather than a manufacturer specification — if the exact number of tines matters to your work, confirm it with us before ordering. The 3-Tine and 4/5-Tine Custom choice on the 1-3 Ton through 8-10 Ton classes is Amulet’s own and is priced separately.

Weights shown are for the 3-Tine standard configuration. The 4/5-Tine Custom is built to order and its finished weight depends on the width and tine count you specify. On the 15-20 Ton class Amulet also builds a heavier R5 head for machines over 35,000 lb.

    🚜 HoeMate Rake Machine Compatibility

The HoeMate rake is a pin-on bucket replacement. It mounts on your machine’s existing bucket pins, so fitment is determined by machine weight class and by your bucket pin and boss dimensions — not by a quick-attach standard. There is no coupler requirement and no hydraulic connection. Find your machine below to identify your weight class, then select that class from the options above. Pin set is sold separately.

🧱 What the HoeMate Rake Is Used For

    • Land and lot clearing — pulling brush, roots and stumps while soil and fines fall through the tines. This is the work most buyers mean when they search for an excavator root rake, and on smaller carriers, a root rake for mini excavator duty.
    • Demolition sorting — separating and loading broken concrete, timber and mixed debris opposite a thumb.
    • Rock placement — picking, positioning and setting rip rap and boulders with control a bucket cannot give.
    • Waste transfer — loading and moving bulk debris on transfer sites and cleanup work.
    • Landscaping and site prep — clearing surface debris and grading brush off ground ahead of finish work.
    • Log and timber handling — gripping and stacking logs without a dedicated log grapple.
    • Rental fleets — a no-maintenance, no-hydraulics rake attachment for excavator fleets, adding grapple capability to any machine in the yard that already runs a thumb.

❓ HoeMate Rake — Common Questions

What is the difference between the 3-Tine and 4/5-Tine HoeMate rake?

The 3-Tine HoeMate is Amulet’s standard rake, built to the published model for your excavator weight class with fixed tine spacing. The 4/5-Tine HoeMate is a custom build: 36" to 48" wide, four or five tines, and tine spacing set to whatever your work requires. Both replace the excavator bucket on the same pin-on mount, and both work opposite any rigid, mechanical or hydraulic thumb.

Can I specify the tine spacing on the HoeMate rake?

Yes, on the 4/5-Tine Custom. Amulet builds the tine spacing on the 4/5-Tine HoeMate rake to the customer’s requirement, so you can set it for the material you are handling or to mesh with a particular thumb or bucket. Enter your width and spacing in the order notes at checkout. The 3-Tine standard ships with Amulet’s fixed spacing for that model.

Which HoeMate rake model fits my excavator?

The HoeMate excavator rake attachment is sold by machine weight class, from R1 for 1-3 Ton machines up to R8 for 40-50 Ton machines. Find your machine in the compatibility table on this page to identify your weight class, then select that class from the options above. If your machine is not listed, call eskidsteer.com at (866) 757-8337 with the make, model and year.

Does the HoeMate rake require hydraulics on my machine?

No. The HoeMate rake has no cylinders and no moving parts, so it needs no auxiliary hydraulic circuit. It replaces the bucket on the existing pins and does its gripping against the thumb the machine already carries. The thumb itself may be hydraulic, mechanical or rigid — the rake works opposite all three.

Can the HoeMate be used as a root rake or brush rake?

Yes. The HoeMate rake is an open-tine head, so soil and fines pass between the tines while roots, brush and debris are held — which is exactly how an excavator brush rake is used on clearing work. Amulet rates the HoeMate for landscaping and land-clearing work through to extreme-duty demolition. For heavy root work, the 4/5-Tine Custom with tighter tine spacing gives more grip on smaller material.

Will the HoeMate rake work with my existing thumb?

Yes. The HoeMate rake is designed to be used opposite any thumb type — Amulet’s own B.R.U.T. rigid thumb, PowerBrute or PowerClamp hydraulic thumbs, or any other manufacturer’s rigid, mechanical or hydraulic thumb already fitted to your machine. If you want the tines to mesh with a specific thumb, order the 4/5-Tine Custom and specify the spacing.

Is a pin set included with the HoeMate rake?

No — the pin set for the HoeMate rake is sold separately. Specify your excavator make, model and year when ordering so the correct pin dimensions are supplied with your rake.

What warranty comes with the Amulet HoeMate rake?

The HoeMate rake carries Amulet’s 2-year warranty and is 100% manufactured in the USA at Amulet’s plant in Rathdrum, Idaho.

How is shipping calculated on the HoeMate rake?

Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout. Add the HoeMate rake to your cart and enter your delivery address and the freight cost is quoted before you pay. Rake weight ranges from 95 lb on the smallest model to 2,990 lb on the largest, so freight varies by the model you select.

How do I order the HoeMate rake?

Order directly on eskidsteer.com. Select your excavator weight class and tine configuration above, add any custom width and tine spacing to the order notes, add to cart and complete checkout. Specify your excavator make, model and year so the correct model and pin dimensions are matched to your machine. For fitment questions before you buy, call us at (866) 757-8337.
