    Overview

The Digga A8 is a general-purpose earth auger bit for excavator drives, supplied here on a 3" hex hub. It is the largest of Digga’s flat-tooth earth augers, using chisel ripping teeth in the inner pockets for breakout and a double flight configuration with 3/8" flighting to handle the torque a 13–16 tonne machine puts through it. With multi-faced tungsten teeth fitted it will also take granulated and soft fracturable rock.

Key Features of the Digga A8 Auger Bit

    • The A8 ships on a 3" hex hub on this listing — the hub is what decides which Digga drives it fits
    • 13 diameters available, from 8" to 48"
    • Drilling conditions: Combination rock / earth
    • Overall length: 60"
    • Teeth: TM
    • Pilot: PM-HX-3
    • Max diameter: 70"
    • Pin, clip, teeth and pilot included — no separate wear-part order needed to drill
    • TRU-CUT geometry — the auger cuts its nominal diameter rather than an oversized hole you backfill with concrete

Why This A8 Bit Earns Its Place

    • Double flight configuration with 3/8" flighting — heavier than the A6 and built for the reliability a large machine demands.
    • Chisel ripping teeth on the inner pockets give breakout force where a flat tooth alone would skate.
    • MFT teeth extend it into soft rock — with multi-faced tungsten fitted the A8 handles granulated and soft fracturable ground, not just soil.
    • 1 3/4" hex drive pilot for machines with higher down-pressure and more torque.

Which Digga Drives Take the A8?

Supplied on a 3" hex hub. Digga lists the A8 as suiting 9DDS through 16DDS drives; the 9DDS and 12DDS use a 2.5" shaft, so check your output before you order. XO25 and XT25 extensions add depth.

    What Machine Do I Need?

The A8 is an auger bit, not a machine attachment — it fits the auger drive, and the machine underneath is whatever runs that drive. It needs a Digga drive with a 3" hex output shaft — the 13DDS, 16DDS, 13DDT or 16DDT. The 9DDS and 12DDS run a 2.5" shaft and would need an adapter.

Add your drive model at checkout and we check the hub matches before the order ships. Stay within the maximum drilling diameter published for your drive and machine class.

Digga A8 Auger Bit Questions, Answered

Will this fit my 9DDS or 12DDS?

Not directly. Those drives run a 2.5" hex output shaft and this bit is supplied on a 3" hex hub, so you would need a 2.5" female to 3" male adapter. Bear in mind an adapter becomes the narrowest point in the torque path, so it suits occasional use rather than daily work.

    Light Conditions or Heavy Conditions?

Light Conditions uses flat bladed teeth for general earth, loam and clay. Heavy Conditions fits multi-faced tungsten teeth brazed onto the tooth face, which hold an edge in compacted and abrasive ground and let the A8 work granulated or soft fracturable rock.

Are the teeth and pilot included?

Yes. Every Digga auger bit ships with pin, clip, teeth and pilot fitted. All of those are consumable and replaceable individually, so a worn head is a wear-part order rather than a new bit.

    Does a 12" auger really drill a 12" hole?

That is what Digga’s TRU-CUT head geometry is for. Many augers cut oversize, which means every hole gets backfilled with more concrete than the design called for. Holding the nominal diameter is a direct materials saving across a pier job.

How do I drill deeper than the bit length?

Digga XO25 and XT25 extensions stack in one-foot increments, which is cheaper than buying a longer auger for occasional deep holes and easier to transport. They fit between the drive and the A8.

    A8 or RC8?

The A8 is the general-purpose earth auger with flat teeth. The RC8 uses the B7 taper-tooth head for combination rock and earth. Same body and flighting — the head is the decision, and it comes down to how much rock you expect.

    How is shipping calculated?

Shipping is calculated at checkout — add the item to your cart, enter your delivery address, and the shipping charge is shown before you complete your order. Lift gate service is available for residential deliveries and can be selected at checkout.

    How do I order?

Add the item to your cart and check out online — the order page asks for your machine make and model, so there is no need to call ahead. We check the mount against your machine after the order and come back to you if anything needs changing. If you would rather ask first, email support@eskidsteer.com or use the chat button on your screen.

Buyers find the A8 searching for a excavator auger bit, an skid steer auger bit, or a specific size such as an auger teeth. It also comes up alongside auger bit 12 inch when a worn head needs refreshing rather than replacing, and against excavator auger when someone is choosing between bit families. The A8, like the rest of the range, is genuine digga auger tooling made in Dyersville, Iowa.
