📘 Overview
The Haugen galvanized work platform (MWPG) is the same fork-mounted telehandler work platform as the standard MWP, hot-dip galvanized after fabrication so it does not rust. Four sizes from 4x4 to 4x9'8", all rated 1,000 lbs for people and tools together, built to meet or exceed OSHA requirements as defined by ANSI/ITSDF B56.6 and ANSI B56.1, and compliant with CSA B335. Extra heavy floor and toe kicks, collapsible sides for transport, and safety restraint tie-downs on the back rail.
Galvanizing is the whole reason this version exists. If your platform lives outdoors, near salt, or in a wash-down environment, the finish is what keeps it serviceable and presentable for years rather than seasons.

🔒 When the Galvanized Version Is Worth It
- Outdoor storage. A painted platform left in the weather starts at the welds and the fastener heads. Hot-dip galvanizing coats the steel inside and out, including surfaces a brush never reaches.
- Coastal and marine work. Salt air attacks a painted finish quickly. Galvanizing is the standard answer for structural steel in those conditions.
- Wash-down and chemical exposure. Food processing, agriculture, plating, water treatment — anywhere the platform gets hosed down or meets anything corrosive.
- Rental and shared fleets. A platform that still looks right after five seasons is easier to hire out, and a galvanized finish does not need the repainting a scratched painted one does.
- Inspection clarity. Pre-use checks look for cracked welds and excessive rust. On a galvanized platform, surface rust is not competing for the inspector's attention, so a real defect stands out.
If the platform lives indoors on a dry site, the standard MWP does the same job for less. The structure, capacity and certification are identical — only the finish differs.
📏 Which Size Fits Your Machine — The Width Rule
A platform may extend no more than 10" past each side of the load-bearing tires. That sets a minimum machine width for each size:

Measure across your load-bearing tires first. Where the machine has outriggers, use them — they add stability, but they do not change the width rule.
Each galvanized model runs 20 to 45 lbs heavier than its painted equivalent, which is the coating. Include the figure above, not the MWP's, when you work out capacity.
⚖ The One-Third Rule — How Much You Can Actually Lift
The combined weight of the platform, the people and their material must not exceed one third of the lift truck's maximum allowable capacity at the 24" load centre, within whatever load zone applies on your machine's chart.
Worked through: a machine rated 6,000 lbs at that position gives 6,000 ÷ 3 = 2,000 lbs. Subtract the platform — 522 lbs for a galvanized 4x6 — and 1,478 lbs remains for people and tools. Run it at the reach and height you will actually work at, since telehandler capacity falls as the boom extends.

When any attachment goes on a lift truck, the machine manufacturer's down-rated capacity chart for that combination is what governs. These are the figures they need:

If your forklift manufacturer allows platform use but will not supply a down-rated chart, Haugen can produce one. It is certified by a Professional Engineer and engineered for your specific platform and lift truck combination. That is a purchasable chart, not an estimate — worth knowing before you conclude the job cannot be done compliantly.

Specify your tine dimensions when ordering so the pocket size matches. And if your machine is a mast-style forklift rather than a telehandler, the high back backrest is required, not optional.
⚠ Safety Rules Worth Knowing Up Front
- Shipping pockets are not lifting pockets. They are for loading onto a trailer — never lift personnel or material on them.
- Carriage tilt and swing cylinders must be disabled before use.
- One person per restraint. Every occupant wears an OSHA-approved lanyard clipped to the bar marked "Safety Restraint Tie Down", and no restraint takes more than one person.
- The machine does not move with people aboard. A certified operator stays at the controls, in neutral with the parking brake set, within ten feet of them and in visual contact and communication with the occupants. To reposition, lower fully and let people out first.
- Both doors closed and pinned before elevating, all guardrails in place and pinned. Rails are not ladders.
- Nothing stands on the platform to gain height — no ladders, boxes or steps to extend working height.
❓ Galvanized Man Basket FAQs
What does galvanizing change on a forklift man basket?
Only the finish. The frame, the 1,000 lb capacity, the railings, the restraint tie-downs and the certification are the same as the painted MWP. Hot-dip galvanizing coats every surface including the inside of tubing and around welds, which is where a painted platform starts to fail outdoors.
Is the galvanized platform heavier?
Yes, by 20 to 45 lbs depending on size — 415 lbs against 395 on the 4x4, 675 against 630 on the 4x116. Use the galvanized figure in your one-third calculation, since that weight comes off your available capacity.
Which size can my machine take?
Measure the width across your load-bearing tires. The platform may overhang by at most 10" each side, so the 4x8 needs a machine at least 76" wide across those tires and the 4x116 needs 8 ft or more.
My forklift manufacturer won't give me a down-rated load chart. What now?
Provided they permit platform use on the machine, Haugen can supply a chart certified by a Professional Engineer and engineered for your exact platform and lift truck pairing. The centre-of-gravity and empty weight figures in the table above are what that calculation is built from.
Do I need the high back backrest?
On a mast-style forklift, yes — it prevents an occupant contacting the mast as the carriage rises. On an extendable-reach telehandler it is not required.
How far can the operator be from the controls?
Not more than ten feet, and they must keep the platform in sight and stay in communication with the people in it for as long as it is occupied. The machine stays in neutral with the parking brake set throughout.
Which fork pocket size should I order?
Standard industrial pockets take tines up to 2.75" thick by 7.75" wide, centred at 38". The large pocket option takes up to 3-1/2" by 9-1/2". Specify your tine dimensions with the order.
How much heavier is the galvanized platform?
20 to 45 lbs depending on size — 415 lbs against 395 on the 4x4, 522 against 487 on the 4x6, 618 against 578 on the 4x8, and 675 against 630 on the 4x9'8".

Failure to Accept Products on Delivery
If you reject delivery of goods ordered from us, or otherwise fail to accept delivery of the goods, you agree to pay for all related and additional shipping fees, duties, taxes, restocking fees and other charges arising from such failure to accept delivery. After such failure to accept delivery of the goods, it shall be your responsibility to pay for and arrange a new shipping date.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

Returns
Returns
We offer returns and exchanges in limited circumstances as follows:
- In order to submit a return, you must contact us by email at support@eSkidsteer.com for us to confirm the items ordered are eligible for return or exchange;
- To be eligible for a return, you must commence the return process within 30 days of your item being delivered to you and:
- it must be unused, for example, once an item is hooked up to an attachment plate, hydraulic lines or electrical connection, it will not be eligible for return. Likewise, if your item shows any sign of use, which we may determine in our sole and absolute discretion, we will not accept the return;
- it must be in the same condition you received it in. You will be required to send us timestamped photos of the condition of your items as a condition to determine your eligibility for the return or exchange; and
- it must be returned in the same packaging or containers as it was received in.
We do not accept returns for products that were listed as final sale items at the time of purchase.
You agree to pay a 25% restocking fee on all returns, which we will deduct from any refund owing to you.
After the above referenced 30-day period, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange, under any circumstances.
If your return or exchange is approved, we will provide instructions on shipping your items back to us or the applicable supplier via email.
You agree that you shall be responsible for all return shipping costs and related expenses.
Our shipping cost to you is not refundable.
You are also responsible for ensuring the items are carefully packaged for shipment and that risk of loss or damage during return shipping shall be your sole liability. You may wish to obtain insurance while the returned items are in transit.
Lost or Damaged
If the item is damaged when you receive it, do not sign the proof of delivery, and contact us immediately at support@eSkidsteer.com. If you sign the proof of delivery form, you cannot later claim the item was lost (i.e. not delivered) or damaged on arrival.
If the item is damaged on arrival take photos of the damage with a time stamp.
In the event the item is lost or damaged on arrival, we will assist you with filing a reimbursement claim directly with the applicable supplier or shipping company as applicable. However, you agree that as we are not the direct supplier of the items, it shall be your responsibility to pursue any claims with the applicable supplier in the event your lost or damaged item is not replaced by the supplier or carrier.
No Warranties Offered by Us
