📘 Overview
The Haugen skid steer jib boom (MSTJ) is a truss boom built light so a skid steer can reach out and place material rather than just lift it close in. Three lengths: 6, 9 and 12 feet. Capacity is 2,000 lbs on the 6 ft and 1,000 lbs on the 9 and 12 ft, and every model carries a pintle hitch and a built-in back angle for rollback.
Some manufacturers call this a truss boom and others a truss jib. Same product: a long, light boom for setting trusses, joists and bundled material.

📏 Choosing a Length — Reach Against Capacity
The 6 ft carries twice what the longer two do. That is the whole trade-off, and it is worth being deliberate about:
- MSTJ 6 — 2,000 lbs at 6 ft. The one to choose if the loads are heavy and the reach is modest. Also the lightest at 325 lbs, so less of your machine's capacity is spent on the attachment.
- MSTJ 9 — 1,000 lbs at 9 ft. The middle option, and usually enough for residential truss work.
- MSTJ 12 — 1,000 lbs at 12 ft. Same rating as the 9 with three more feet of reach, for 30 lbs more attachment weight.
Between the 9 and the 12 the capacity is identical, so the question is simply whether you need the extra reach. Between the 6 and the others, capacity halves — decide on the heaviest thing you will actually place.
🪝 The Pintle Hitch
Every MSTJ carries a pintle hitch rather than a plain hook. A pintle closes around the ring or eye of what it is towing or lifting, which suits the bundled and slung loads a truss boom typically handles. Replacement pintle hooks are available separately if one gets damaged.
📐 You Will Need a Down-Rated Load Chart
A jib moves the load out in front of the carriage, which changes what the machine can safely lift. When any attachment is added to a forklift or telehandler, the machine manufacturer's down-rated capacity chart for that combination is what governs.
The jib's chart covers the jib alone. Your machine may be the more restrictive of the two at a given height and reach, and the lower limit always applies. Capacity also falls as a telehandler boom extends — work from the figures at the reach you will actually use.
⚠ Operating Rules — From Haugen's Manual
- Vertical lifting only. Never pull or drag a load with a jib.
- Disable the carriage's hydraulic tilt and swing functions before lifting, and position the mount so the load sits centred on the machine.
- Read the load chart for the position you are set to — not the one you used last time. Misreading the chart is how adjustable jibs get overloaded.
- Safety pins installed and secured with the cotter pin. Optional safety chains are an addition to the pins, never a substitute.
- Operator stays at the controls with the engine running while a load is on the jib.
- Nobody within ten feet of the fall zone, and never any part of yourself under a suspended load. Hard hats and steel toe boots nearby.
- Level, firm ground. Carry loads low and use tag lines to stop them swinging.
- Never lift people. Personnel lifting requires a certified work platform.
Before every use: check the hook, latch and shackle; confirm the pins are in and secured; look for excessive wear and cracked or broken welds; check the lifting holes for elongation; and make sure the load chart decal is present and legible.

Is a truss jib the same thing as a truss boom?
In practice yes — the industry uses both names for the same product, and manufacturers including JLG list theirs under both. Haugen calls this range truss jibs. If you have been searching for a skid steer truss boom, this is it.
Which length do I need?
Work out the heaviest thing you will place and how far out it has to go. The 6 ft holds 2,000 lbs; the 9 and 12 ft hold 1,000 lbs each. If your loads are under 1,000 lbs, choose on reach alone — the 12 ft costs only 30 lbs more attachment weight than the 9.
Why is capacity lower on the longer booms?
Leverage. The further a load sits from the machine, the greater the moment on the carriage and the boom. Every jib and boom works this way, which is why a truss boom is built as light as it safely can be — weight saved in the boom is capacity available for the load.
What is the pintle hitch for?
It closes around a ring or eye rather than relying on a hook throat, which suits slung bundles and towed loads. It is standard on all three lengths, and replacements are available.
Do I need a down-rated load chart?
Yes. The load sits well forward of the carriage, so your machine manufacturer's down-rated chart for the combination applies. The lower of the machine and boom limits is the one to work to.
Can I lift people with it?
No — material only, and vertical lifting only.

Failure to Accept Products on Delivery
If you reject delivery of goods ordered from us, or otherwise fail to accept delivery of the goods, you agree to pay for all related and additional shipping fees, duties, taxes, restocking fees and other charges arising from such failure to accept delivery. After such failure to accept delivery of the goods, it shall be your responsibility to pay for and arrange a new shipping date.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

Wrong Address:
Please review and ensure that you have entered the correct address. We are not responsible for non-delivery due to errors in the address that you provide. If an order is returned due to an incorrect address, we will refund the original order (excluding the shipping fee) and ask that you re-submit your order.

Returns
Returns
We offer returns and exchanges in limited circumstances as follows:
- In order to submit a return, you must contact us by email at support@eSkidsteer.com for us to confirm the items ordered are eligible for return or exchange;
- To be eligible for a return, you must commence the return process within 30 days of your item being delivered to you and:
- it must be unused, for example, once an item is hooked up to an attachment plate, hydraulic lines or electrical connection, it will not be eligible for return. Likewise, if your item shows any sign of use, which we may determine in our sole and absolute discretion, we will not accept the return;
- it must be in the same condition you received it in. You will be required to send us timestamped photos of the condition of your items as a condition to determine your eligibility for the return or exchange; and
- it must be returned in the same packaging or containers as it was received in.
We do not accept returns for products that were listed as final sale items at the time of purchase.
You agree to pay a 25% restocking fee on all returns, which we will deduct from any refund owing to you.
After the above referenced 30-day period, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange, under any circumstances.
If your return or exchange is approved, we will provide instructions on shipping your items back to us or the applicable supplier via email.
You agree that you shall be responsible for all return shipping costs and related expenses.
Our shipping cost to you is not refundable.
You are also responsible for ensuring the items are carefully packaged for shipment and that risk of loss or damage during return shipping shall be your sole liability. You may wish to obtain insurance while the returned items are in transit.
Lost or Damaged
If the item is damaged when you receive it, do not sign the proof of delivery, and contact us immediately at support@eSkidsteer.com. If you sign the proof of delivery form, you cannot later claim the item was lost (i.e. not delivered) or damaged on arrival.
If the item is damaged on arrival take photos of the damage with a time stamp.
In the event the item is lost or damaged on arrival, we will assist you with filing a reimbursement claim directly with the applicable supplier or shipping company as applicable. However, you agree that as we are not the direct supplier of the items, it shall be your responsibility to pursue any claims with the applicable supplier in the event your lost or damaged item is not replaced by the supplier or carrier.
