Haugen's skid steer trailer spotter series allows skid steers to move trailers in yards, loading docks, and tight spaces without a semi truck. Three models: MBA-SKD (standard ball hitch adapter, 145 lbs), HBA-SKD (ball hitch with extra fifth-wheel position, 135 lbs), and HBA-V (V-shaped ball hitch design). All use Universal Quick Attach for immediate attachment from existing skid steer equipment. Extreme duty construction. Made in USA with a 1-year warranty.

Universal Quick Attach. Use only for ground-level trailer movement — not for lifting. Ball mounts sold separately (specify ball size: 1-7/8", 2", or 2-5/16"). Verify your skid steer's ground drive force and rated push/pull capacity against the trailer load before attempting to move heavy loaded trailers.
Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with Universal Quick Attach:
| Bobcat | Caterpillar | John Deere | Case |
| New Holland | Takeuchi | Kubota | Gehl |
Verify auxiliary hydraulic flow rate (GPM) and back-pressure requirements match your machine's aux circuit capabilities before operating.

Q: What is the difference between MBA-SKD, HBA-SKD, and HBA-V?
MBA-SKD (145 lbs): standard ball hitch adapter — connects to any ball-coupler trailer. The fundamental skid steer trailer spotter configuration. HBA-SKD (135 lbs): adds an extra position for fifth-wheel trailer engagement, allowing the same attachment to spot both standard ball-coupler trailers and fifth-wheel trailers. Choose HBA-SKD if your yard has both trailer types. HBA-V: V-shaped ball hitch design where the V-shaped nose guides the trailer tongue into the hitch ball during approach. Choose HBA-V for environments with poorly-positioned trailers or tight spots where precise alignment is difficult. |
|
Q: Does this come with a ball mount?
No — the ball hitch adapter provides the receiver/mounting platform; the ball mount (which holds the actual trailer hitch ball) is purchased separately. Ball mounts are available at trailer supply stores in various ball sizes (1-7/8", 2", 2-5/16"). Match the ball size to your trailers' coupler size. |
|
Q: Can a skid steer move a loaded trailer?
Potentially yes, depending on trailer weight and skid steer drive force. An empty 40-foot trailer weighs approximately 8,000–12,000 lbs and can typically be moved by a mid-size skid steer on flat, firm ground. A loaded trailer may weigh 80,000 lbs or more, which exceeds most skid steers' ground drive capability. Use only on trailers within your machine's ground drive force limit, on level firm ground. Never use on grades steeper than the machine's rated slope capability. |
|
Q: Is this the same as the fork-mounted trailer spotter (MFBA)?
No — the MBA-SKD/HBA-SKD series mounts to the Universal Quick Attach on a skid steer. The MFBA (Fork Slot Ball Hitch Adaptor) is a separate product that slips onto forklift or telehandler fork tines. The QA-mount spotters are for skid steers; the fork-slot spotter is for forklifts and telehandlers. Both serve the same trailer-spotting function on their respective machine types. |
|
Q: What trailers can the HBA-SKD fifth-wheel position engage?
The HBA-SKD includes an extra engagement point sized for fifth-wheel trailer kingpins. This is the same style of kingpin connection used on semi-truck trailers. Verify the kingpin engagement dimensions with Haugen at 877-580-6218 for your specific trailer type before attempting to move fifth-wheel trailers. |
