The Haugen round bale grapple skid steer attachment is a purpose-built bucket for handling large round hay bales, brush, and debris. Available in two series: HBG (Fixed Grapple) and HBGR (Removable Grapple), both in 72", 84", and 96" widths. All models share the same 30" tall, 42" deep bucket with an 82" grapple opening and replaceable curved grapple tips. The HBGR adds a two-pin quick-release so the grapple can be removed in seconds, converting the unit to a standard bale bucket. Flat-face couplers standard. Kickstand holds the grapple when not in use. Powder coat finish. Universal Quick Attach. Made in USA.

Universal Quick Attach — fits all standard SSQA skid steers. At 1,030–1,370 lbs, verify your machine's rated operating capacity can handle the grapple weight plus the bale load. Round bales typically weigh 800–2,000 lbs depending on crop and moisture.
Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with Universal Quick Attach:
| Bobcat | Caterpillar | John Deere | Case |
| New Holland | Takeuchi | Kubota | Gehl |
Requires two auxiliary hydraulic circuits (independent grapple arms). Check your machine's rated operating capacity against attachment weight before operating.

Q: What is the difference between HBG and HBGR?
HBG is a fixed grapple — the grapple arms are permanently attached to the bucket. HBGR has a two-pin quick release on the grapple, allowing the grapple to be removed in seconds and the unit used as a plain bale bucket. A kickstand holds the removed grapple upright on the ground when not in use. If you frequently switch between grapple and bucket use, the HBGR is more versatile. If you always use the grapple, the HBG is simpler and has the same weight and grapple opening specs. |
|
Q: What bale sizes does the 82" grapple opening accommodate?
The 82" grapple opening handles round bales up to approximately 82" (6.8 ft) in diameter, which covers all common commercial round bale sizes: 4x4, 4x5, 4x6, 5x5, 5x6, and the largest 5x6 high-density bales. Most 5x6 bales (60" diameter) and even oversized bales fall well within the 82" opening. |
|
Q: What is the HBG/HBGR capacity (weight it can carry)?
The grapple capacity is limited by your machine's rated operating capacity, not by the grapple itself. At 1,030–1,370 lbs of attachment weight, the remaining available lift capacity on a 3,000 lb ROC machine is approximately 1,630–1,970 lbs — sufficient for most dry round bales. Heavy wet bales can exceed 2,000 lbs; in those cases, verify your machine's ROC against expected bale weight. |
|
Q: Can the HBGR grapple be left in the field and picked up again?
Yes — the kickstand on the HBGR holds the grapple assembly upright when detached from the bucket. You can drop the grapple in the field, use the bucket for other tasks, then return and reattach the grapple by driving up to it and reinserting the two pins. This is the key operational advantage of the HBGR for operators who regularly switch between bale handling and other bucket work. |
|
Q: Why does the HBGR have the same weight as the HBG?
The grapple assembly on the HBGR adds similar mass to the bucket whether or not it is removable — the removability adds a pin-hole system and kickstand hardware, which compensates for any weight reduction from the release mechanism. Both series are built to the same structural specification; the HBGR adds versatility without sacrificing performance. |
