SSQA — fits all standard skid steers. Confirm machine ROC covers bucket weight plus rock load. Rock density varies — granite and basalt are heavier per volume than limestone.
Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with a Universal Quick Attach (SSQA) system:
| Bobcat | Caterpillar | John Deere | Case |
| New Holland | Takeuchi | Kubota | Gehl |
Compatibility determined by mount type — confirm your machine's quick attach configuration before ordering.

Q: How is a skeleton bucket different from a standard bucket?
A skeleton (tine) bucket has open tines instead of a solid floor. When you scoop material, soil and fines fall through the gaps while rocks and large material are retained. Standard buckets retain everything including soil. |
|
Q: What size rocks can this pick up?
The tine spacing determines the minimum retained rock size. Rocks smaller than the tine gaps fall through like soil. Contact Star Industries 1-800-541-1797 for specific tine spacing on each model. |
|
Q: Can this bucket dig into soil like a standard bucket?
The skeleton design allows light surface scooping in loose material but is not optimized for digging — tines are less effective than a solid cutting edge for penetrating compacted soil. It is primarily a surface-picking tool for material already loosened or lying on the surface. |
|
Q: Which width should I choose?
66" for compact skid steers or tight access. 72" standard for most applications. 84" for high-volume rock clearing with larger machines. |
|
Q: Can the bucket sort gravel from soil?
Yes — within the limits of tine spacing. The skeleton bucket is widely used in agricultural land clearing for exactly this purpose, picking rocks from tilled soil before planting. |
