    Overview

This skid steer trencher attachment is the Digga Bigfoot with a 1 5/8" pitch chain, digging to 36" in widths from 4" to 8". Two things separate it from a generic trencher: the HeadStart crumber system, which pulls loose spoil out of the trench floor so you are not hand-cleaning to grade, and the adjustable foot depth control that holds a consistent depth without the operator riding the loader arms. It ships with hoses, quick disconnects and the crumber bar.

Key Features of the Bigfoot 3 Foot Trencher Skid Steer Attachment

    • Cutting depth: Up to 36"
    • Cutting widths: 4"/ 6"/ 8"
    • Recommended flow: 13 gpm - 25 gpm
    • Foot depth presets: 24" / 30" / 36"
    • Motor type: 2K Bell EATON
    • HeadStart crumber system — cleans the trench floor as you go rather than leaving a bed of loose spoil to dig out by hand.
    • Adjustable foot depth control holds depth consistently without the operator managing it on the arms.
    • Three chain options covering clean soil through to consistently stony ground.
    • 3 year gearbox and 2 year motor warranty — longer than most trenchers in this class carry.
    • Finely crumbled spoil compacts back into the trench properly instead of leaving voids.

Why This Bigfoot Trencher Earns Its Keep

    • A trencher is bought for one job and kept for five — irrigation, cable, drainage and footings all end up on the same attachment.
    • Minimal ground disturbance either side matters on finished lawns and established sites where the reinstatement is half the job.
    • The chain is the consumable, not the machine — changing chain type is how one trencher covers several ground conditions.

Choosing Your Bigfoot Trencher Chain and Cutting Width

The Bigfoot Trencher takes three decisions: chain type, cutting width, and on some models dig depth. Chain type is the one that most affects how the machine behaves in your ground.

Chain type Teeth Best suited to
Earth Chain Earth teeth on every second station Soil, loam and light clay — the lowest-cost chain and the fastest in clean ground
Combo Chain 70% Diggatac carbide teeth, 30% earth teeth Mixed ground where you hit stone or hardpan intermittently — the general-purpose choice
Diggatac Chain 100% Diggatac carbide teeth Consistently hard, stony or frozen ground where an earth tooth would be destroyed

    Digging Chain Type

    • Combo
    • DiggaTac
    • Earth

    Chain Width

    • 4" Chain
    • 6" Chain
    • 8" Chain

Which Machines Fit the Bigfoot Trencher?

    Fitment factor Requirement
Machine Skid steer loaders and compact track loaders
    Auxiliary hydraulic flow 13–25 GPM
Max pressure 3,500 PSI at 16 GPM — do not exceed
Mount Purchased separately — universal skid steer slide mount or machine-specific
    Chain pitch 1 5/8"
Included Hoses, quick disconnects and crumber bar

The Bigfoot Trencher uses a standard skid steer quick attach interface, so the common loaders all take it:

Bobcat Caterpillar John Deere Case New Holland Takeuchi Kubota Gehl

Note your machine make and model at checkout and we confirm the Bigfoot Trencher mount and flow suit it before the order ships.

What to Order Alongside the Bigfoot Trencher

    • A mount to suit your machine — the Bigfoot Trencher ships without one, and skid steer slide mounts and excavator hitches are separate items.
    • Spare teeth — Diggatac and cup teeth are consumables and are cheaper to keep on the truck than to chase mid-job.
    • A spare chain if you run mixed ground — swapping a chain is faster than changing every tooth on it.
    • A nose roller kit and drive sprocket, which wear alongside the chain rather than independently of it.

Bigfoot 3 Foot Trencher Skid Steer Attachment Questions, Answered

Earth, Combo or Diggatac chain on the Bigfoot?

All three are offered on the Bigfoot in 4" to 8" widths. Earth chain carries earth teeth on every second station and is the fastest and cheapest in clean soil. Combo runs 70% Diggatac carbide with 30% earth teeth, which suits most contractors because it survives the stone you did not know was there. Diggatac is 100% carbide, for consistently hard, stony or frozen ground. Choosing Earth for rocky ground is a false economy; choosing Diggatac for clean soil costs more and cuts slower.

What is the crumber and why does it matter?

The crumber bar runs behind the chain and pulls loose spoil out of the trench floor. Without one you are left with a bed of loose material in the bottom of the trench, which has to be cleaned out by hand before pipe or cable can be laid to grade. Digga includes the crumber bar on the package.

    Is a mount included?

No. The package includes the trencher, hoses, quick disconnects and crumber bar. Mounts are separate — a universal skid steer slide mount, or a machine-specific hitch for Bobcat, John Deere or Kubota interfaces.

    What warranty applies?

Digga covers Bigfoot trenchers for 3 years on the gearbox and 2 years on the motor. Ground-engaging parts — the digging chain, sprockets, teeth and bearings — are wear items and are not covered.

How deep and wide will it dig?

Up to 36" deep, in cutting widths of 4", 6" or 8". Foot depth presets at 24", 30" and 36" let you set a consistent depth for the run rather than judging it by eye.

What hydraulic flow does it need?

This one is rated for 13 gpm - 25 gpm. Do not exceed 3,500 PSI at 16 GPM — do not exceed. Check that figure against your machine’s auxiliary hydraulic output before choosing — a machine that cannot supply the rated flow will never reach the rated performance, and one that exceeds the limit will run the attachment hot.

    Will this fit my machine?

Check three things: it is built for Skid steer loaders and compact track loaders; the interface is Purchased separately — universal skid steer slide mount or machine-specific; and it needs 13 gpm - 25 gpm. Add your machine make and model at checkout and we confirm the fit before the order ships.

    How is shipping calculated?

Shipping is calculated at checkout — add the item to your cart, enter your delivery address, and the shipping charge is shown before you complete your order. Lift gate service is available for residential deliveries and can be selected at checkout.

    How do I order?

Add the item to your cart and check out online — the order page asks for your machine make and model, so there is no need to call ahead. We check the mount against your machine after the order and come back to you if anything needs changing. If you would rather ask first, email support@eskidsteer.com or use the chat button on your screen.

Contractors reach the Bigfoot Trencher searching for a trencher attachment, a skid steer trencher, or a skid steer attachments for a machine they already run. It comes up alongside trencher chain and digga trencher when the job is cable, irrigation or drainage rather than post holes. All of it is genuine mini skid steer trencher equipment made in Dyersville, Iowa.

The width decision is worth thinking about before the chain decision. A 4" trench is faster and moves less spoil, which matters on a long cable run; but if you are laying pipe with bedding either side, a 6" or 8" trench saves fighting the pipe into a slot that is barely wider than it is. Changing width means changing the chain, so it is easier to choose right than to change later.
