Haugen's skid steer auger extension series extends your existing auger bit's digging depth without replacing the bit. Available in two types: Variable Length (adjustable — stores inside the column of 10"+ auger bits, increments every 6" on 12"-24" extensions, every 12" on 48"-72") and Fixed Length (solid shaft — extends depth by the full extension length). Both types available in 24" and 48" lengths in 2" Hex and 2-9/16" Round shaft sizes. Weights: 20-84 lbs depending on type and length.
| SKU | Style | Shaft | Length | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10900 | Variable | 2" Hex | 24" | 32 lbs |
| 10901 | Variable | 2" Hex | 48" | 56 lbs |
| 10904 | Variable | 2-9/16" Round | 24" | 32 lbs |
| 10905 | Variable | 2-9/16" Round | 48" | 56 lbs |

| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Variable Increments | Every 6" on 12"-24" extensions; every 12" on 48"-72" extensions |
| Variable Storage | Stores inside 10"+ diameter auger bit column |
| Fixed | Solid shaft — full extension length only |
| Compatibility | 2" Hex or 2-9/16" Round — match to auger drive output shaft |
| Origin | Made in USA |
Match shaft size to your auger drive output. Variable extensions require 10" or larger diameter auger bits to store inside the column during transport. Fixed extensions can be used with any diameter bit.
Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with Universal Quick Attach:
| Bobcat | Caterpillar | John Deere | Case |
| New Holland | Takeuchi | Kubota | Gehl |
No aux hydraulics required.

Q: What is the difference between Variable and Fixed Length extensions?
Variable Length: adjustable depth — the extension can be positioned at multiple depth settings (every 6" on 24" extensions, every 12" on 48" extensions) and stores inside 10"+ diameter auger bit columns for transport. Fixed Length: solid shaft — adds the full extension length as a fixed depth increment. No adjustability. Use variable when you need flexibility in depth settings; use fixed when you always need the same fixed additional depth. |
|
Q: What auger bit sizes can use the Variable extension?
Variable extensions are designed to store inside the column of 10" diameter or larger auger bits. Bits smaller than 10" diameter typically do not have a large enough center column to house the extension. For smaller bits, use Fixed Length extensions stored separately. |
|
Q: Can I stack two extensions?
Stacking extensions is generally possible mechanically but increases the length of the unsupported auger shaft, which can cause deflection and bit wander in the hole, reducing drilling accuracy. Contact Haugen at 877-580-6218 before stacking extensions for your specific application. |
|
Q: Which shaft size do I need?
Match the shaft size to your auger drive unit's output: 2" Hex for Hex drives, 2-9/16" Round for Round drives. If your drive and bit shaft sizes differ, use one of Haugen's auger adaptors (10921 or 10923 — see auger adaptors product page) to convert. |
|
Q: What is the maximum depth I can drill with these extensions?
4-foot bit + 48" (4-foot) fixed extension = 8 feet total depth. 4-foot bit + 72" variable extension = 10 feet total. Verify that your machine has adequate lift to extract the auger at maximum depth — longer combined bit+extension lengths increase extraction resistance, especially in dense soil. |
