    📘 Overview

The Haugen forklift hook attachment (Premium Swivel Hook) is a wide 42" frame forklift lifting hook, rated at 8,800, 10,000 or 14,000 lbs. Feet on the underside hold the hook clear of the ground so it can be picked up without anyone lifting it into position, and the hook sits at 24" on centre like the rest of the Haugen fork-mounted range.

The M8 and M14 come with a Sure Lock hook; the M10 with a swivel hook. Fork pockets are 3-1/2" x 7-1/2".

🔧 What the Wide Frame and Feet Change

    • A 42" frame spreads the load across a wider span of the carriage than a narrow hook frame, which suits machines running wide tine spacing and gives a more stable seat on the forks.
    • The feet are a small detail that matters daily. A hook attachment lying flat on the ground has to be lifted or propped before the tines can enter the pockets. Feet hold the frame at pocket height, so the operator drives in and picks it up without anyone handling it.
    • Sure Lock or swivel. The M8 and M14 carry a Sure Lock hook; the M10 carries a swivel hook. Choose on whether you need the load to rotate under the hook or to stay locked in orientation.

📐 Why You Don't Need a New Load Chart

Every Haugen fork-mounted swivel hook holds the hook at 24" on centre — the same load centre forklifts are normally rated at. Because the hook sits where the machine's chart already assumes the load sits, your existing forklift load chart normally still applies, less the empty weight of the attachment, the rigging and the load itself. A separate down-rated load chart should not be needed.

That is a practical difference from a jib or a work platform, both of which move the load away from the carriage and require a down-rated chart from the machine manufacturer before use.

The hook's own rating is not the machine's rating. Total load must never exceed whichever is lower, and remember telehandler capacity falls as the boom extends.

    ⚠ Operating Rules — From Haugen's Manual

    • Vertical lifting only. Never use it to pull or drag a load.
    • Disable the carriage's hydraulic tilt and swing functions before lifting, and position the tines so the hook holds the load centred on the machine.
    • Forks level or slightly rolled back — never tilted forward.
    • Safety pins behind the heel of each fork, secured with the cotter pin. Pins are chained to the frame so they cannot be lost. Optional safety chains are an addition to the pins, never a substitute.
    • Operator stays seated at the controls with the engine running for as long as a load is on the hook.
    • Nobody within ten feet of the fall zone in any direction, and never any part of yourself under a suspended load. Hard hats and steel toe boots for anyone working nearby.
    • Level, firm ground before raising. Carry loads low and use tag lines to stop them swinging.
    • Never lift people. For personnel, use a certified work platform.

Before each use, check the hook, latch, bolt and sleeve for wear or distortion, look for cracked or broken welds, check the holes for elongation, and confirm the capacity and empty-weight decals are present and legible.

    ❓ Forklift Hook Attachment FAQs

What is the difference between the Sure Lock and swivel hooks?

A swivel hook lets the load rotate, which helps when you need to turn something into position. A Sure Lock hook holds its orientation. The M10 comes with the swivel; the M8 and M14 come with Sure Lock.

Why does the frame have feet?

So the hook sits at fork-pocket height when it is on the ground. Without them the frame lies flat and someone has to lift or prop it before the tines can go in. With them, the operator drives the forks in and picks it up.

    Which capacity should I choose?

8,800, 10,000 or 14,000 lbs — pick the heaviest load plus rigging you expect to handle, and confirm your machine carries it at the working reach and height. Empty weights are within 10 lbs of each other across the range.

    Do I need a down-rated load chart?

Normally not. The hook is held at 24" on centre, so your machine's existing load chart applies less the weight of the attachment, the rigging and the load.

Will it fit my fork tines?

Fork pockets take tines up to 3-1/2" x 7-1/2" on a 42" wide frame. Measure your tine section and spacing against those figures.

    Can it lift people?

No. This is a material handling attachment for vertical lifting only. Personnel lifting requires a certified work platform.

What do the Premium hooks weigh?

215 lbs for the M8 and M10, 225 lbs for the M14 — within 10 lbs across the range, so capacity rather than weight should decide.

What should I inspect before use?

Check the hook, latch, bolt and sleeve for wear or distortion, confirm the retainer pins are secured with cotter pins, look for cracked welds, check the holes for elongation, and make sure the capacity decal is legible.
