The Haugen forklift trailer spotter that also lifts (MFSH-TS) is a fork-mounted unit combining a swivel hook with a 2" receiver hitch in one fork-pocket frame. Move trailers around a yard or dock with the receiver, then use the same attachment as a lifting hook without swapping anything. Two capacities: 3 ton and 5 ton.
Fork pockets take tines up to 3-1/2" x 7-1/2", and the hook is held at 24" on centre.

🚛 A Swivel Hook with Receiver — Two Jobs, One Attachment
Yards that shunt trailers usually solve it twice — something to hitch with, and something to lift with. The MFSH-TS does both from the same fork pockets, which matters when a forklift is the only machine on site and swapping attachments costs more time than the job itself.
- Trailer moving. A 2" standard receiver takes the ball mount of your choice. Hitch balls are ordered separately, so you can match the coupler on the trailers you actually move.
- Lifting. The swivel hook handles ordinary picks up to 3 or 5 ton, with the load turning to face where you want it.
- No changeover. Both functions live in one frame, so moving from spotting a trailer to setting a load is a matter of driving to it.
📐 Why You Don't Need a New Load Chart
Every Haugen fork-mounted swivel hook holds the hook at 24" on centre — the same load centre forklifts are normally rated at. Because the hook sits where the machine's chart already assumes the load sits, your existing forklift load chart normally still applies, less the empty weight of the attachment, the rigging and the load itself. A separate down-rated load chart should not be needed.
That is a practical difference from a jib or a work platform, both of which move the load away from the carriage and require a down-rated chart from the machine manufacturer before use.
The hook's own rating is not the machine's rating. Total load must never exceed whichever is lower, and remember telehandler capacity falls as the boom extends.
⚠ Operating Rules — From Haugen's Manual
- Vertical lifting only. Never use it to pull or drag a load.
- Disable the carriage's hydraulic tilt and swing functions before lifting, and position the tines so the hook holds the load centred on the machine.
- Forks level or slightly rolled back — never tilted forward.
- Safety pins behind the heel of each fork, secured with the cotter pin. Pins are chained to the frame so they cannot be lost. Optional safety chains are an addition to the pins, never a substitute.
- Operator stays seated at the controls with the engine running for as long as a load is on the hook.
- Nobody within ten feet of the fall zone in any direction, and never any part of yourself under a suspended load. Hard hats and steel toe boots for anyone working nearby.
- Level, firm ground before raising. Carry loads low and use tag lines to stop them swinging.
- Never lift people. For personnel, use a certified work platform.
Before each use, check the hook, latch, bolt and sleeve for wear or distortion, look for cracked or broken welds, check the holes for elongation, and confirm the capacity and empty-weight decals are present and legible.
❓ Forklift Trailer Spotter FAQs
Does this fork mounted ball hitch come with a ball?
No. The receiver is a 2" standard, and ball mounts are ordered separately so you can match the couplers on your trailers. Several mount options are available including 2", 2-5/16" and triple-ball versions.
Can I use the hook and the hitch at the same time?
They are separate functions on one frame and are used one at a time. Move a trailer, then lift — but do not attempt both simultaneously, and never lift while a trailer is coupled.
Which capacity do I need?
3 ton for general yard work and lighter picks; 5 ton where loads are heavier. Both use the same fork pockets and the difference in empty weight is 15 lbs. As always, the machine's rating and the attachment's rating are separate limits and the lower one applies.
Do I need a down-rated load chart?
Normally not for the lifting function — the hook sits at 24" on centre, so your existing forklift chart applies less the attachment, rigging and load weights.
How is it secured to the forks?
The tines go fully into the pockets and a safety pin secures it behind the fork. Fit the pin every time, including for short trailer moves — an unsecured attachment can slide forward off the tine tips.
Can it lift people?
No. Material only, vertical lifting only, and never used to drag or pull.
Is a ball mount included with the trailer spotter?
No. The MFSH-TS provides a 2" standard receiver; the ball mount is ordered separately so it matches the couplers on your own trailers. Options include a 2" ball, a 2-5/16" ball, a triple ball mount and an adjustable triple ball with 6" of rise and drop.
What maintenance does the swivel hook need?
Before each use, check the hook, latch, bolt and sleeve for wear or distortion, confirm the safety pins are installed and secured with their cotter pins, look for cracked or broken welds, check the holes for elongation, and make sure the capacity and empty-weight decals are present and legible.
What is the empty weight of each model?
205 lbs for the MFSH-6TS at 3 ton, and 220 lbs for the MFSH-10TS at 5 ton. That weight comes off your machine's available capacity before the load.
Can I tow on a public road with it?
No. This is a yard spotter for repositioning trailers on site at low speed — around a yard, a dock or into a shed.

Failure to Accept Products on Delivery

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

Returns
Returns
We offer returns and exchanges in limited circumstances as follows:
- In order to submit a return, you must contact us by email at support@eSkidsteer.com for us to confirm the items ordered are eligible for return or exchange;
- To be eligible for a return, you must commence the return process within 30 days of your item being delivered to you and:
- it must be unused, for example, once an item is hooked up to an attachment plate, hydraulic lines or electrical connection, it will not be eligible for return. Likewise, if your item shows any sign of use, which we may determine in our sole and absolute discretion, we will not accept the return;
- it must be in the same condition you received it in. You will be required to send us timestamped photos of the condition of your items as a condition to determine your eligibility for the return or exchange; and
- it must be returned in the same packaging or containers as it was received in.
We do not accept returns for products that were listed as final sale items at the time of purchase.
You agree to pay a 25% restocking fee on all returns, which we will deduct from any refund owing to you.
After the above referenced 30-day period, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange, under any circumstances.
If your return or exchange is approved, we will provide instructions on shipping your items back to us or the applicable supplier via email.
You agree that you shall be responsible for all return shipping costs and related expenses.
Our shipping cost to you is not refundable.
You are also responsible for ensuring the items are carefully packaged for shipment and that risk of loss or damage during return shipping shall be your sole liability. You may wish to obtain insurance while the returned items are in transit.
Lost or Damaged
If the item is damaged when you receive it, do not sign the proof of delivery, and contact us immediately at support@eSkidsteer.com. If you sign the proof of delivery form, you cannot later claim the item was lost (i.e. not delivered) or damaged on arrival.
If the item is damaged on arrival take photos of the damage with a time stamp.
In the event the item is lost or damaged on arrival, we will assist you with filing a reimbursement claim directly with the applicable supplier or shipping company as applicable. However, you agree that as we are not the direct supplier of the items, it shall be your responsibility to pursue any claims with the applicable supplier in the event your lost or damaged item is not replaced by the supplier or carrier.
