The Haugen skid steer bale spear for squares (MSBS) is a square bale spear with three forged Conus tines set to enter a square bale across its face and hold it flat. Two versions: the MSBS-C1 with three 32.4" Conus 1 tines giving 27" of useable tine, and the MSBS-C2 with three 39" Conus 2 tines giving 34" useable.

📏 Useable Tine on a Large Square Bale Spear
Tine length and useable tine are different figures. The MSBS-C1 has 32.4" tines with 27" useable; the MSBS-C2 has 39" tines with 34" useable. The difference is the part that sits inside the sleeve and mount.
Useable tine is what actually goes into the bale, so it is what you measure against your bales:
- MSBS-C1, 27" useable. Suits standard small square bales and lighter handling. Conus 1 tines are the lighter class at 9.5 lbs each.
- MSBS-C2, 34" useable. Seven more inches into the bale and heavier Conus 2 tines at 18 lbs each. For larger squares and denser bales where 27" would not reach far enough to carry safely.
A tine that does not reach far enough into a dense bale carries the load on the outer third, which is how bales break up on the lift.
🔩 Conus Tines — What They Are and Why They Matter
Haugen fits forged German Conus tines rather than cold-rolled bar, and the difference shows up in the field.
- Forged, not rolled. A Conus tine is forged to a taper, so the section is thickest at the base where bending load is highest and slimmest at the tip where it has to enter the bale. Cold-rolled bar is the same section end to end.
- The taper is the point. A tapered tine slides into a dense bale with less force and releases it without dragging, which is what stops you shaking a bale off the spear.
- Two classes. Conus 1 tines are lighter — the 32.4" weighs 9.5 lbs. Conus 2 are heavier duty: the 39" is 18 lbs and the 49" is 21 lbs.
- Replaceable. Tines are the wear and damage item and swap individually. Conus sleeves are available separately.
Cold-rolled tines are also available on some models where a straight parallel section suits the job — they are a different tool, not a lesser one.

At 190 to 205 lbs the spear itself is light. The bale is the load to plan around, and a dense square bale can be substantial.

What is the difference between the C1 and C2?
Tine class and reach. The C1 has three 32.4" Conus 1 tines with 27" useable; the C2 has three 39" Conus 2 tines with 34" useable and a heavier tine section — 18 lbs against 9.5 lbs per tine.
What does useable tine mean?
The part that actually enters the bale, as opposed to overall tine length which includes the section inside the sleeve and mount. Measure your bales against the useable figure, not the tine length.
Which should I choose?
If your bales are standard small squares, 27" useable on the C1 is enough. For larger or denser squares, the C2's 34" reaches further in and the heavier tines carry it better. Under-reaching is what causes bales to break apart on the lift.
Why three tines?
A square bale needs to be held flat across its face rather than pivoting on a single point. Three tines spread across the face stop it rotating and spread the load through the bale.
Are the tines replaceable?
Yes, individually — and Conus sleeves are available separately. Tines are the item that bends or wears.
What does it mount to?
Universal skid steer quick attach, so any skid steer or compact track loader running the standard interface.

How do I place an order?
We do not take orders on the phone for security reasons. To place an order, go to a product page, select the desired quantity of the item, and add it to your cart via the “Add to Cart” button. During checkout, you just need to enter or confirm your shipping address and credit card information, then you can place your order

Failure to Accept Products on Delivery
If you reject delivery of goods ordered from us, or otherwise fail to accept delivery of the goods, you agree to pay for all related and additional shipping fees, duties, taxes, restocking fees and other charges arising from such failure to accept delivery. After such failure to accept delivery of the goods, it shall be your responsibility to pay for and arrange a new shipping date.
Tracking Information:
We also provide tracking numbers for all orders. Once your order has been shipped, we will provide you with a tracking number that you can use to track the progress of your package. You will receive this tracking number via email.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?
At this time, we cannot ship to multiple addresses in one order. Please place separate orders on support@eSkidsteer.com to ship to different addresses. If you need assistance, please contact our Customer Service.
Wrong Address:
Please review and ensure that you have entered the correct address. We are not responsible for non-delivery due to errors in the address that you provide. If an order is returned due to an incorrect address, we will refund the original order (excluding the shipping fee) and ask that you re-submit your order.
Change of Address:
If your item hasn’t yet been shipped, you may change your delivery address by emailing at support@eSkidsteer.com. Please note that we are not obligated to ensure changes to the delivery address after the item has been delivered.

Returns
Returns
We offer returns and exchanges in limited circumstances as follows:
- In order to submit a return, you must contact us by email at support@eSkidsteer.com for us to confirm the items ordered are eligible for return or exchange;
- To be eligible for a return, you must commence the return process within 30 days of your item being delivered to you and:
- it must be unused, for example, once an item is hooked up to an attachment plate, hydraulic lines or electrical connection, it will not be eligible for return. Likewise, if your item shows any sign of use, which we may determine in our sole and absolute discretion, we will not accept the return;
- it must be in the same condition you received it in. You will be required to send us timestamped photos of the condition of your items as a condition to determine your eligibility for the return or exchange; and
- it must be returned in the same packaging or containers as it was received in.
We do not accept returns for products that were listed as final sale items at the time of purchase.
You agree to pay a 25% restocking fee on all returns, which we will deduct from any refund owing to you.
After the above referenced 30-day period, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange, under any circumstances.
If your return or exchange is approved, we will provide instructions on shipping your items back to us or the applicable supplier via email.
You agree that you shall be responsible for all return shipping costs and related expenses.
Our shipping cost to you is not refundable.
You are also responsible for ensuring the items are carefully packaged for shipment and that risk of loss or damage during return shipping shall be your sole liability. You may wish to obtain insurance while the returned items are in transit.
Lost or Damaged
If the item is damaged when you receive it, do not sign the proof of delivery, and contact us immediately at support@eSkidsteer.com. If you sign the proof of delivery form, you cannot later claim the item was lost (i.e. not delivered) or damaged on arrival.
If the item is damaged on arrival take photos of the damage with a time stamp.
In the event the item is lost or damaged on arrival, we will assist you with filing a reimbursement claim directly with the applicable supplier or shipping company as applicable. However, you agree that as we are not the direct supplier of the items, it shall be your responsibility to pursue any claims with the applicable supplier in the event your lost or damaged item is not replaced by the supplier or carrier.
No Warranties Offered by Us
Everything on the Website, including all products available for order, are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind from us, including all implied warranties and conditions of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We hereby disclaim all warranties and conditions of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory.
