    🔒12-month manufacturer warranty
    750 lb heavy-duty flywheel

    📘 Overview

The Maxx Attachments Vortex skid steer brush cutter, on a universal quick attach mount, cuts 4 to 6 inch material all day long, which is the number that separates a brush cutter from a mower — and it is backed by a 750 lb flywheel that carries momentum through material that would stall a lighter deck. It is built for heavy brush and small trees on overgrown lots, right-of-way work, and land management where the machine runs continuously. Choose a 70" or 80" cutting width, then match the motor to your loader: standard flow at 19-26 GPM, medium flow at 26-33 GPM, or high flow at 33-41 GPM, all rated to 3,200 PSI. The open-end frame design is the defining feature: material is cut before it reaches the deck, which speeds cleanout and recycle times while driving forward instead of backing out of plugged material. Four replaceable AR400 cutting knives do the work, driven by a powerful gear motor system, and the heavy-duty open-sided deck is built to hold up to 24/7 operation.

⚙ Key Features of the Vortex Brush Cutter

    • 750 lb heavy-duty flywheel — stored rotational energy carries the blades through heavy material instead of bogging.
    • (4) AR400 replaceable cutting knives — abrasion-resistant steel, replaced individually as they wear.
    • Open-end frame design — cuts material before it encounters the deck, allowing faster cleanout and recycle times while driving forward.
    • Heavy-duty open-sided deck — frame design built to hold up to 24/7 operation.
    • Powerful gear motor system — matched across five flow configurations from 19 to 41 GPM.
    • Dual discharge deck — spreads cut material rather than windrowing it in one place.
    • 70" or 80" cutting widths — sized to your machine width.
    • Heavy-duty drive spindle — the load path between motor and flywheel is built for continuous duty.
    • Jumper hose lines provided — supplied ready to plumb to the loader.

🔑 Why Buy This Brush Cutter?

    • Cut 4-6" material continuously, not occasionally — the 750 lb flywheel and heavy spindle are specified for all-day duty rather than intermittent use.
    • Drive forward through plugged material — the open-end frame cuts before material hits the deck, so you clear jams by continuing rather than backing out.
    • Match the motor to your machine exactly — five flow configurations from 19 to 41 GPM mean you buy the cutter your loader can actually drive.
    • Knives are the only consumable — four bolt-on AR400 blades absorb the wear; the deck and flywheel keep working.
    • Built for 24/7 fleets — the open-sided deck construction is specified for continuous commercial operation, not weekend property work.

📋 Vortex Brush Cutter Models and Options

Five configurations across two cutting widths and three flow ranges:

    • 70" Standard Flow — 19-26 GPM, needs 2,500 lbs machine capacity (model 4487D1)
    • 70" Medium Flow — 26-33 GPM, needs 2,800 lbs (model 4414D1)
    • 70" High Flow — 33-41 GPM, needs 2,800 lbs (model 5222D1)
    • 80" Medium Flow — 26-33 GPM, needs 2,800 lbs (model 5406D2)
    • 80" High Flow — 33-41 GPM, needs 2,800 lbs (model 5407D2)

The 80" cutter is not offered in a standard flow configuration — the wider deck requires medium flow or above.

🔗 What Is a Brush Cutter Used For?

    • Heavy brush and small tree clearing
    • Overgrown lot and field reclamation
    • Right-of-way and roadside maintenance
    • Fence line clearing
    • Land management and fire mitigation
    • Continuous-duty commercial mowing

🚜 Which Machines Fit the Brush Cutter?

Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders equipped with a Universal Quick Attach system, including:

    Bobcat
    Caterpillar
    John Deere
    Case
    New Holland
    Takeuchi
    Kubota
    Gehl

Compatibility is determined by mount type, not brand — confirm your machine's quick attach configuration before ordering. Flow requirements range from 19-26 GPM (standard flow) up to 33-41 GPM (high flow) at a maximum of 3,200 PSI. Minimum machine operating capacity is 2,500 lbs for the 70" standard flow model and 2,800 lbs for all other configurations. Jumper hose lines to the skid loader are provided; couplings are not included.

    ❓ Brush Cutter Questions, Answered

What size material can the Vortex cut?

The manufacturer states the Vortex is designed to cut 4 to 6 inch materials all day long, with a stated diameter cutting capacity of 6-8 inches. Treat 4-6 inches as the continuous working range and the upper figure as occasional maximum capacity rather than sustained duty.

Should I get the 70" or the 80"?

Match it to your machine width — the cutter should cover your tracks or tires so you are not driving over uncut material. The 80" also requires medium flow or above; there is no 80" standard flow model. If your machine is standard flow, the 70" is your only option.

What hydraulic flow do I need?

Standard flow models run 19-26 GPM, medium flow 26-33 GPM, and high flow 33-41 GPM, all at a maximum of 3,200 PSI. Check your loader's rated auxiliary flow and choose the matching model — this is the single most important specification on this attachment.

    Are hydraulic couplings included?

Jumper hose lines to the skid loader are provided, but couplings are not included. You will need couplings that match your machine's auxiliary hydraulic connections. This is worth checking before the attachment arrives so you are not waiting on parts.

What machine size do I need?

A minimum machine operating capacity of 2,500 lbs for the 70" standard flow model, and 2,800 lbs for every other configuration. The attachments weigh 1,990 to 2,200 lbs, so machine capacity is a real constraint rather than a formality.

What is the open-end frame design and why does it matter?

The deck is open at the leading edge, so material is cut before it encounters the deck structure. The practical effect is faster cleanout and recycle times, and the ability to keep driving the loader forward through heavy material rather than backing out of a plugged deck.

How many blades does it have and are they replaceable?

Four AR400 cutting knives, and yes — they are replaceable. AR400 is an abrasion-resistant steel, so blade life in normal brush is good, but knives are the expected consumable on any brush cutter.

Can this run continuously on a commercial job?

Yes. The heavy-duty open-sided deck and frame design are specified by the manufacturer to hold up to 24/7 operations, and the heavy-duty drive spindle is built for the same duty cycle.

How does a brush cutter differ from a mulcher?

A brush cutter shears material with knives and discharges it in pieces; a mulcher grinds material into finer chips. Brush cutters clear faster and cost less; mulchers leave a finer finish. For clearing overgrown lots and right-of-way, a brush cutter is usually the right economic choice.
