Should I get standard arms or extended arms?
It depends on what you are cutting. Standard shear arms are designed for hardwood — mesquite, oak, osage orange (hedge), and locust. Open-end extended arms are suited to softwood species like cedar, where the wider opening lets you take bushy growth in fewer bites. If you cut both, standard arms are the more versatile choice.
What is the difference between the 14" and 16" models?
Cutting capacity and arm construction. The 14" handles trees up to 14" in diameter using solid cast steel arms that are 60% stronger than fabricated equivalents. The 16" handles up to 16" using fabricated A572 steel arms, which allow the larger opening. The 16" is available with a brushguard and standard arms only.
Do I need the brushguard?
If you are working into standing brush or dense growth where material can come back toward the cab, the brushguard is worth having — it adds protection for the machine and operator. On open pasture work with clear sightlines it is optional. Note the brushguard models are taller (50" versus 24") and heavier.
What machine and hydraulics do I need?
A minimum machine operating capacity of 1,850 lbs and a minimum hydraulic flow rate of 15 GPM. The shearing cylinder is rated at 4,000 PSI. This is the lowest capacity requirement in the Maxx shear line, so it fits machines that cannot run the Timberwolf or the 20" Ranch Axe.
Will this fit my skid steer?
All units come with universal mount skid steer coupler hooks that work with most current model skid steer loaders, and are supplied with standard-flow flat face couplings. Compatibility depends on mount type rather than brand — confirm your machine has a universal quick attach plate and meets the 1,850 lb capacity minimum.
Can I add the chemical sprayer to this shear?
Yes — the 5-gallon Ranch Axe Chemical Sprayer System can be added directly on this page using the sprayer option above the Add to Cart button, so the shear and sprayer ship together as one order. The sprayer is factory installed, so adding it at the time of purchase is the intended path. What does the sprayer kit actually do?
It applies herbicide directly to the cut stump surface as you work, which prevents regrowth. On species that resprout aggressively from the stump — cedar in particular — treating at the time of the cut saves a return trip with a separate sprayer.
How are the blades replaced?
The 3/4" AR400 milled knives are bolt-on and replaceable. When an edge wears, it unbolts and a new blade goes on in its place — no cutting or welding, and no need to send the attachment out.
Is this a Dymax shear?
It is the same product line. Maxx Attachments is the rebranded Dymax attachment business, now manufactured and supported by Maize Corporation, which supplied Dymax parts and components for years before taking over the line. The DX prefix in the part numbers is a holdover from Dymax.
How is shipping calculated?

Returns
We offer returns and exchanges in limited circumstances as follows:
- In order to submit a return, you must contact us by email at support@eSkidsteer.com for us to confirm the items ordered are eligible for return or exchange;
- To be eligible for a return, you must commence the return process within 30 days of your item being delivered to you and:
- it must be unused, for example, once an item is hooked up to an attachment plate, hydraulic lines or electrical connection, it will not be eligible for return. Likewise, if your item shows any sign of use, which we may determine in our sole and absolute discretion, we will not accept the return;
- it must be in the same condition you received it in. You will be required to send us timestamped photos of the condition of your items as a condition to determine your eligibility for the return or exchange; and
- it must be returned in the same packaging or containers as it was received in.
We do not accept returns for products that were listed as final sale items at the time of purchase.
You agree to pay a 25% restocking fee on all returns, which we will deduct from any refund owing to you.
After the above referenced 30-day period, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange, under any circumstances.

Lost or Damaged
If the item is damaged when you receive it, do not sign the proof of delivery, and contact us immediately at support@eSkidsteer.com. If you sign the proof of delivery form, you cannot later claim the item was lost (i.e. not delivered) or damaged on arrival.
If the item is damaged on arrival take photos of the damage with a time stamp.
In the event the item is lost or damaged on arrival, we will assist you with filing a reimbursement claim directly with the applicable supplier or shipping company as applicable. However, you agree that as we are not the direct supplier of the items, it shall be your responsibility to pursue any claims with the applicable supplier in the event your lost or damaged item is not replaced by the supplier or carrier.
