    📘 Overview

This Roadrunner skid steer box blade is the manual-adjust member of the C-Series (CJ Series): a dual-blade box grader with T-handle screw adjusters on each side instead of hydraulic cylinders, so it runs on any skid steer, compact track loader or tractor without tying up an auxiliary hydraulic circuit. The serrated front blade cuts and breaks material, the smooth rear blade carries and finishes it, and the side panels hold the load inside the box so it fills low spots instead of spilling into windrows — which is why it is bought for gravel driveways, ranch lanes and site pads rather than one-pass rough dozing. You choose two things: blade width (72", 84" or 96"), and the mount — Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach, a Category 1 & 2 three-point hitch for a tractor, or the Combo that ships with both so one grader covers the loader and the tractor. Go wider than your machine: the 96" blade measures 100" overall and needs a machine with the traction to pull a loaded box, while the 72" suits compact loaders and smaller tractors. Every Roadrunner grader is welded and finished in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and carries a 36-month warranty.

⚙ Inside the Roadrunner Skid Steer Box Blade (CJ Series)

    • Manual T-handle depth adjustment — twin screw adjusters set blade depth without hydraulics, so nothing is plumbed into the machine and there is no cylinder or hose to service.
    • Independent adjustment on each side — setting one side lower than the other lets you cut a crown so rainwater sheds off both shoulders instead of pooling into potholes.
    • Dual blade configuration — a serrated front cutting blade breaks hard-packed gravel, a smooth rear cutting blade levels behind it in the same pass.
    • Bolt-on motor grader cutting edges — standard 5/8" bolt-on edges retained with plow bolts, so a worn edge is unbolted and replaced rather than the whole blade being scrapped.
    • Replaceable AR400 wear shoes — hardened skid bars carry the box and set the cut height; they are the sacrificial part, bolted on with 3/4"-10 hardware.
    • Heavy-duty square tube frame — built from thicker high-strength steel than imported box blades, then two-stage zinc primed and powder coated instead of spray painted.
    • Full side panels — retain material inside the grading area so loose stone is carried into low spots rather than pushed out to the edges as windrows.
    • 6" blade height, 10-degree blade angle — Roadrunner's published geometry across the C-Series and E-Series.

🔑 Why Buyers Choose the Manual CJ Over a Hydraulic Grader

    • No auxiliary hydraulics required — the CJ Series runs on machines with no auxiliary circuit at all, and on tractors where a rear remote would otherwise be needed. That is the whole reason it exists alongside the hydraulic CH Series.
    • One grader for the loader and the tractor — the Combo mount option ships the Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach plate and the Category 1 & 2 three-point tower together, so a farm running both machines does not buy two implements.
    • Fewer wear points than a hydraulic box — no cylinder, hoses, couplers or depth gauge means nothing to leak, and the only routine service is greasing the adjustment threads.
    • Crown restoration on a gravel road — independent side adjustment rebuilds the crown that traffic flattens, which is what stops water standing and re-cutting potholes every spring.
    • Wear parts are bolt-on, not welded — cutting edges and AR400 skid bars are consumables you replace with hand tools; the frame is the part you keep.

Overall width runs 4" wider than the nominal blade width on every size, because the side panels sit outboard of the cutting edges.

📋 Choosing Your CJ Series Configuration

Two choices build this box blade attachment — the blade width above, and the mount below.

Mounting option What it is Choose it when
Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach Mount The standard SSQA plate, included at no extra cost Your machine is a skid steer or compact track loader with a universal quick attach coupler
3-Point (Cat 1 & 2) A bolt-on three-point tower with side mounting plates and a back plate, in place of the SSQA plate You want a tractor box blade and the grader will never go on a loader
Combo (3-Point & Universal Skid Steer Mount) Both interfaces supplied together on the one grader You run a tractor and a loader and want to move the same grader between them

🔗 What Bolts On to a Roadrunner C-Series Grader

The Category 1 & 2 three-point kit is a genuine Roadrunner accessory that bolts to any C-Series grader — a three-point tower weldment plus side mounting plates whose spacing is set to suit your tractor's lower arms during installation. It is fitted, not welded, so a CJ Series bought today as a skid steer grader can be converted into a tractor grader attachment later. Adjust the top link on installation so the grader sits parallel to the ground in the grading position, and pin the lower arms before the top link.

🚜 Which Machines Fit This Skid Steer Box Blade?

This grader is offered in two mounting configurations — select the one that matches your machine:

Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach (SSQA) — fits skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with a standard universal quick attach coupler, including:

    BobcatCaterpillarJohn DeereCaseNew HollandTakeuchiKubotaGehl

Category 1 & 2 three-point hitch — fits compact and utility tractors with a Category 1 or Category 2 three-point hitch. No PTO is required; the CJ Series is a fully mechanical implement.

Roadrunner rates the C-Series grader for machines up to 110 HP or a 3,000 lb lift capacity and specifies that the carrier must have ROPS and a seat belt. Do not use an oversized machine — the owner's manual is explicit that a machine above that rating can damage the grader. Size the blade to the carrier as well as to the job: a common sizing rule among grader dealers is to pick an overall width at least 12" greater than the machine's tire or track width, so the machine always drives on ground the grader has already finished. Confirm your quick attach configuration, or your hitch category, before ordering. Everything needed to confirm fitment is on this page — add the grader to your cart to see delivered pricing for your address.

Before you sign for delivery: inspect the crate and the grader with the driver and note any damage on the Bill of Lading before signing. A signed clean Bill of Lading makes a freight damage claim very difficult to win. Photograph anything that looks wrong and email the photos to support@eskidsteer.com.

❓ CJ Series Box Grader Questions, Answered

What is the difference between the CJ Series and the CH Series?

The Roadrunner CJ Series adjusts blade depth with manual T-handle screw adjusters; the CH Series adjusts the lead cutting edge hydraulically from the cab and keeps manual screw adjusters on the trailing edge. Choose the CJ Series when the machine has no spare auxiliary circuit, when the grader will spend most of its life on a tractor, or when you want the lowest-maintenance box grader in the C-Series. Choose the hydraulic version when you change depth constantly through a pass.

Which blade width should I buy for my skid steer?

Pick the Roadrunner CJ Series width that is wider than your machine so the tires or tracks run on graded ground: the 72" model measures 76" overall, the 84" measures 88" and the 96" measures 100". Roadrunner rates the C-Series for machines up to 110 HP or a 3,000 lb lift capacity, so the 96" belongs on a full-size loader or a larger utility tractor rather than a compact machine.

Does the CJ Series box blade need auxiliary hydraulics?

No. The Roadrunner CJ Series is adjusted entirely by hand with T-handle screw adjusters, so it needs no auxiliary hydraulic circuit, no hoses and no couplers. That is the practical difference between it and the hydraulic CH Series, and it is why the CJ Series works on machines with no auxiliary circuit fitted.

Can I use the same grader on a tractor and a skid steer?

Yes — select the Combo (3-Point & Universal Skid Steer Mount) option and the CJ Series ships with both the Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach plate and the Category 1 & 2 three-point tower — one implement that serves as a box blade for skid steer use and as a 3 point box blade on the tractor. If you buy it with only one mount, the Roadrunner three-point attachment kit is a bolt-on accessory that can be added to any C-Series grader afterwards.

Is a box blade or a grader blade better for a gravel driveway?

A box blade like the CJ Series holds material between two blades and side panels, so it carries loose stone forward and drops it into low spots — that is what fills potholes and removes washboarding. A single angled grader blade pushes material to the side instead, which is better for cutting a ditch or moving snow than for restoring a driveway surface. For gravel road and driveway maintenance, the box design is the one that leaves a finished surface in fewer passes.

How do I cut a crown with the CJ Series?

Set the grader's skid bars level on the ground, then set the right-hand side of the cutting blade lower than the left so material flows toward the centre of the road. Roadrunner's depth indicator marks are set at 1/2" spacing. Work with the loader hydraulics in float so the skid bars follow the ground, and pack the surface afterwards — unpacked material moves straight back into ripples and tire channels.

Are the cutting edges and skid bars replaceable?

Yes. The CJ Series uses standard bolt-on motor grader cutting edges retained by 5/8" plow bolts, and AR400 hardened skid bars bolted on with 3/4"-10 hardware. Both are designed as wear parts and are replaced with hand tools rather than being welded on.

What maintenance does a manual box grader need?

Very little. Roadrunner's schedule for the C-Series is: check retainer clips and pins every 8 hours; every 40 hours inspect the height adjustment linkage for wear and debris, grease the manual height adjustment thread, and inspect the blades and skid bars; annually check all fasteners to torque, wash the grader and inspect the frame for cracks. With no cylinder or hoses on the CJ Series there is no hydraulic system to service.

What does the Roadrunner warranty cover?

Roadrunner Equipment warrants the CJ Series against defects in workmanship or materials for 36 months from the date of sale, lease or rental. Normal wear items are excluded — that means bearings, hoses and ground-engaging parts including blades, cutting edges and skid shoes. The warranty is void if the grader is modified or welded on without Roadrunner's approval.

How does the CJ Series ship, and what should I check on delivery?

Shipping is calculated at checkout — add the grader to your cart, enter your delivery address, and the freight charge is shown before you complete the order. Roadrunner graders ship LTL freight on a pallet because of their width and weight, and lift gate service can be selected at checkout for residential deliveries without a loading dock.
