Here’s a simple, plug-and-play solution for running Caterpillar D-Series 14-pin attachments on your John Deere machine with a 14-pin connector. This adapter plugs into the John Deere loader on the machine side and into your Cat-style attachment harness on the other side. Turn the machine on, use your factory controls, and you’re ready to work.
Both ends of the adapter are built from original factory-style components and pinned to match John Deere and Cat D-Series specifications, so you don’t have to rewire your attachment or modify your machine harness.
John Deere 14-pin side: The Deere 14-pin system provides six switched outputs. On this adapter you’ll see seven pins installed. Available functions are:
The extra power port on pin K is not provided on the John Deere side by default. If you require a dedicated power feed on that pin, it can be custom-built on request.
Caterpillar D-Series 14-pin side: When ordered with electrical controls, Cat 14-pin provides up to six switched ports. You’ll notice this connector is populated with eight pins, covering:
This adapter does supply the extra power port on pin K for Cat applications.
New 2025-series adapters include a K to P pin installed for dedicated switched power on machines such as the Cat 255/265. Inside the female connector you’ll find a hidden jumper covered with heat-shrink tubing. Remove the shrink, then insert the jumper into pin K or N to turn on your high-flow hydraulics in your CAT machine as required.
If you plan on moving pins frequently between different attachments or machines, remember that the adapter ships with basic single-use tools. They’re great for occasional changes, but for regular or professional work a commercial-duty tool makes the job much easier and safer for the connector.

Both ends of this adapter are built to match factory pin specifications using original-style components. However, we cannot guarantee that your machine was originally ordered with all available electrical controls, nor can we guarantee that your attachment is pinned from the factory in the same way. This is especially important with auction or second-hand attachments purchased online.
Tools and instructions are included so you can move pins if necessary to make your machine and attachment align correctly. Always verify pin-outs before applying power, and consult a qualified technician if you are unsure about your wiring.
This adapter lets you run Cat D-Series 14-pin attachments on a John Deere loader with a 14-pin electrical connection. It plugs into the John Deere machine-side port and provides a Cat D-Series compatible 14-pin connection on the attachment side.
It is designed for John Deere skid steer and compact loader models that use a 14-pin electrical interface and Cat D-Series attachments that use a 14-pin connector. Always verify your machine and attachment both use the correct 14-pin style before ordering.
No. The adapter is pinned internally to match John Deere 14-pin machine-side wiring to Cat D-Series 14-pin attachment-side wiring. You simply plug it in at both ends and use your factory controls as normal.
The John Deere 14-pin system typically provides up to six switched outputs for attachment functions. Actual available functions may depend on your specific machine model and its control package.
In most cases, yes — as long as your John Deere loader has enough control buttons and outputs to match the attachment’s functions. If your machine has fewer functions than the attachment, some features may not be available even with the adapter connected.
Installation is simple and plug-and-play. Plug the machine-side end into your John Deere 14-pin port and the other end into the Cat D-Series 14-pin plug from your attachment. No tools, cutting, or splicing are required.
The adapter is designed to follow factory-style pinouts and uses OEM-style components. When used as directed, it should not require any permanent wiring changes or negatively affect your machine’s electrical system.
Yes. The adapter uses sealed, heavy-duty 14-pin connectors and wiring intended for outdoor use on skid steers and loaders, providing good resistance to moisture, dust, vibration, and debris when properly connected.
Yes. Because it is completely plug-and-play, you can disconnect it and use it on any compatible John Deere 14-pin machine and Cat D-Series 14-pin attachment, making it a reusable solution for mixed fleets.
First, ensure both 14-pin connectors are fully seated and locked. Then verify your machine and attachment are both 14-pin compatible and that your loader has enough control functions. If certain functions still do not work, check the attachment wiring and consult the pinout information for your specific models.
