Q: Should I choose MLP (Without Mesh) or HLP (With Mesh)?
MLP Without Mesh: best for driveway and road grading where you want dual cutting edges (front and rear) for bidirectional grading and the option to add a scarifier for compacted surfaces. HLP With Mesh: best for fine grading and material redistribution on softer ground where the mesh's ability to carry fine material and fill low spots provides better single-pass results than a solid pan. |
|
Q: What is the optional scarifier for?
The optional scarifier on MLP models has replaceable teeth that rip the compacted surface crust before the blade passes. On summer-hardened gravel driveways, caliche, or hard-packed roads, the scarifier breaks the crust so the blade can grade effectively. Without it, a hardened surface can deflect the blade rather than being leveled. |
|
Q: Does the land plane require hydraulics?
No — it is a purely mechanical attachment. The loader arms raise and lower to set blade height. No aux hydraulic circuit is needed. |
|
Q: What is the difference between HLP 72 and MLP 78/84?
HLP models have mesh and weld-on cutting edges — they are available in 72", 78", and 84" and are designed for fine material redistribution. MLP models have bolt-on edges (no mesh) and the scarifier option — they are available in 78" and 84" and are designed for driveway and roadbed grading with bidirectional cutting edges. |
|
Q: Can I use the land plane on gravel driveways?
Yes — gravel driveway maintenance is the primary use case for both MLP and HLP series. The MLP scarifier option is particularly useful on gravel driveways that develop a hard summer crust. Multiple passes at different blade heights are typically used to achieve a smooth finished grade. |
