Star Industries Forklift Self-Dump Buckets transform your forklift into a material handler for sand, gravel, mulch, and loose debris — available in manual (SD) and hydraulic (SDH) versions in 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4+ cu yd capacities. Manual versions (1440SD, 1445SD, 1472SD, 1484SD) trip via handle or remote rope from operator seat. Hydraulic versions (1445SDH, 1472SDH, 1484SDH) use the forklift's hydraulic circuit. All slip onto standard 48" forks — no forklift modifications required. Accepts forks up to 2" thick × 6" wide. 5-year factory guarantee. USA made since 1981.

Universal fit for straight-mast forklifts with 48" forks. Accepts forks up to 2" thick × 6" wide. SDH hydraulic models require a hydraulic valve at the operator's position — not all forklifts have this. Confirm forklift hydraulic configuration before ordering the SDH models.

Straight-mast forklifts with 48" forks, up to 2" thick × 6" wide. SDH models require hydraulic valve at operator position.

Q: When should I choose the SDH hydraulic version over the manual SD?
Choose the SDH if your forklift already has a hydraulic attachment valve at the operator position and you need precise dump angle control (partial dumps, progressive discharge). Choose the manual SD if your forklift has no hydraulic attachment provisions, or if a simple one-action trip dump is sufficient for your application. |
|
Q: How does the manual dump work?
The manual SD has a trip mechanism with a spring-loaded safety lock. The bucket can be tripped via the handle on the back of the bucket, or via a rope extension that runs from the trip mechanism to the operator position, allowing release from the seat without dismounting. |
|
Q: What materials can the self-dump bucket handle?
Sand, gravel, garden mulch, landscape aggregate, loose debris, and yard/plant waste. The bucket is designed for loose pourable materials — not appropriate for solid material that requires a grapple or dedicated handling solution. |
|
Q: Can I use this on a reach truck or order picker?
The self-dump bucket is designed for straight-mast forklifts. Reach trucks and order pickers have different mast configurations, load centers, and fork geometry. Contact Star Industries at 1-800-541-1797 to verify compatibility with your specific machine type. |
|
Q: Do all SD/SDH models fit both the small 45" and large 72" machines?
Width selection is application-based — the 45" models (1440SD, 1445SD, 1445SDH) fit within tighter aisle widths and have lower total system weights. The 72" and 84" models maximize volume per trip. Select based on your forklift's ROC at the loaded weight and your site's aisle/access dimensions. |
