The Haugen Dakota PD-1450 is a skid steer post driver with a built-in manual tilt and side mount — a standard feature on the PD-1450 that most competing brands charge extra for or omit entirely. It drives wood and steel posts up to 4.5" diameter using a self-contained hydraulic hammer operating at 2,000 PSI. The standard model (PD-1450) weighs 325 lbs; the extension model (PD-1450EX) adds a 24" height extension for longer fence posts or oil pipe, at 375 lbs. All models include a plumb bob chain, depth gauge, and post puller chain. Universal Quick Attach. No minimum hydraulic flow required — the PD-1450 is self-contained and operates within virtually any skid steer's hydraulic system. Made in USA with a 1-year warranty.

The PD-1450 uses Universal Quick Attach and requires one auxiliary hydraulic circuit. Because there is no minimum GPM requirement, it operates on virtually any skid steer or compact track loader with a working aux circuit at 2,000 PSI. Verify your machine has a functioning auxiliary circuit before ordering.
Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with Universal Quick Attach:
| Bobcat | Caterpillar | John Deere | Case |
| New Holland | Takeuchi | Kubota | Gehl |
Requires one auxiliary hydraulic circuit. Check your machine's GPM output before ordering the PD-1450 (no hydraulic flow required — self-contained).

Q: How does the manual tilt work on the PD-1450?
The tilt function is controlled by a pin on the outside of the post driver body. To change the angle, an operator or helper adjusts the pin from outside the machine — the unit does not tilt from inside the cab. This requires a helper on the ground when adjusting angle mid-job. The PD-1600 and PD-1850 offer hydraulic tilt as an option for cab-controlled angle adjustment without a second person. |
|
Q: Why choose the PD-1450 vs the PD-1600 or PD-1850?
The PD-1450 is the right choice when: (1) your machine has limited hydraulic flow and cannot support the 11+ GPM needed for larger models; (2) you are driving posts 4.5" and smaller; (3) budget is a priority and the manual tilt is acceptable. Choose the PD-1600 (drives 7.125" posts, 11-18 GPM, 1,150 lbs) or PD-1850 (drives 8.25" posts, 13-24 GPM, 1,325 lbs) for larger posts, higher blow frequency, and optional hydraulic tilt. |
|
Q: What does the PD-1450EX extension do?
The EX model adds a 24" height extension between the hammer body and the post head, giving the attachment 24" more vertical reach. This matters when driving 8'+ fence posts where the skid steer's maximum lift height would otherwise be reached before the post is fully driven. The extension adds 50 lbs (325 → 375 lbs). |
|
Q: Can the post puller chain remove deeply set posts?
The post puller chain is designed to remove posts that need to be relocated or replaced — it wraps around the post above ground and uses the skid steer's crowd and lift force to extract it. Very deeply driven posts (4+ feet in rock-hard soil) may exceed the pulling force the skid steer can generate at the attachment; in those cases, using a longer wrap point closer to the base improves leverage. |
|
Q: Can this driver also be used as a concrete breaker?
The PD-1450 is not designed for concrete breaking — that capability (with chisel and moil point tools) is offered on the PD-1600 and PD-1850 models. If concrete breaking is a requirement in addition to post driving, specify the PD-1600 or PD-1850 with the concrete breaking accessory when ordering. |
