The Star Industries Crane Trash Skip provides safe, efficient debris removal from roofs, elevated decks, and upper floors of construction sites using a crane or cable. Available in six sizes from 1446B (1.5 cu yd, 2'D×4'W×6'L, 5,000 lb rated, 925 lbs empty) to 1451B (3.8 cu yd, 13,000 lb rated). Hoisted with 10' or longer cable straps, the skip dumps by releasing the forward slings while the rear slings remain connected — material tips out the sloped end. Built from 3/16" steel plate with 1/4" angle reinforcing at top edge and corners. 5-year factory guarantee. USA since 1981.

Designed for crane hoisting with cable straps minimum 10' long. Confirm crane rated capacity covers the skip weight plus debris load at the required lift radius. Rated load capacity varies by model — never exceed the skip's rated load. Contact Star Industries at 1-800-541-1797 for rigging specifications.
Designed for hoisting by crane or similar lifting equipment with sufficient rated capacity:
| Tower Crane | Mobile Crane | Crawler Crane | Rough Terrain Crane |
| Boom Truck | Telescopic Handler |
Confirm crane rated capacity covers skip weight plus debris load at required lift radius. Use minimum 10' cable straps.

Q: How does the skip dump?
The crane skip uses a two-sling configuration: two forward slings and one or two rear slings, all connected to the crane hook. To dump, release the two forward slings from the crane hook while keeping the rear slings connected. The rear connection raises the back of the skip while the front drops, tipping the skip forward and dumping the load out the sloped open end into the receiving container below. |
|
Q: What crane capacity is needed for a full load?
Each model has a rated load capacity separate from its empty weight — the crane must handle both. Example: 1449B (rated 10,000 lbs load + 1,262 lbs empty = 11,262 lbs total at rated load). Confirm the crane's rated capacity at the required lift radius exceeds the total combined weight. |
|
Q: Can the skip be used with a telehandler instead of a crane?
The skip is designed specifically for crane hoisting with cable straps. Telehandler use is possible in some configurations but requires adaptation and capacity verification. Contact Star Industries at 1-800-541-1797 before using the crane skip with a telehandler. |
|
Q: Which model should I choose for roof tear-off debris?
For standard residential roof shingle and decking tear-off, the 1446B (1.5 cu yd) or 1448B (2 cu yd, longer) are most common — shingles are relatively light compared to the rated capacity. For commercial flat-roof tear-off with heavier ballast gravel and insulation board, the 1447B or 1449B (deeper models) provide better volume per lift. Select based on your crane's capacity and the debris weight per cubic yard. |
|
Q: Are cable straps included?
Cable straps are not included — they are required for rigging and must be supplied by the operator. Use minimum 10' long cable straps rated above the combined skip weight plus debris load. Contact a rigging supplier for appropriate strap specifications for your specific skip model and load. |
