The Star Industries Skid Steer Auger Rack is a purpose-built storage and transport solution for heavy-duty skid steer auger bits. The unique "Drop-N-Go" design allows a single operator to set the auger down onto the rack and drive away — eliminating the dangerous manual handling of 100–300 lb auger bits. Available in 16" (Model 160A-16 and 160A-16-42) and 18" (Model 160A-18 and 160A-18-42) auger diameter configurations, with and without a 42" extension tube slot. Keeps auger bits organized, accessible, and off the ground between holes. 5-year factory guarantee. USA made since 1981.

Designed for use with Star Industries 160D series auger drive units and 160A series auger bits. Confirm auger bit diameter (16" or 18") matches rack model before ordering. Can be mounted on SSQA quick attach for transport or set on the ground as a stationary storage stand.
Compatible with skid steer loaders and compact track loaders with a Universal Quick Attach (SSQA) system:
| Bobcat | Caterpillar | John Deere | Case |
| New Holland | Takeuchi | Kubota | Gehl |
Compatibility determined by mount type — confirm your machine's quick attach configuration before ordering.

Q: What is the Drop-N-Go design?
The Drop-N-Go design allows a single operator to place the auger bit (with drive unit attached) directly onto the rack by positioning the skid steer and lowering the arms — the bit seats into the rack without any manual handling. The operator can then disconnect the drive unit hydraulics, back away, and the bit remains safely stored on the rack. This eliminates the second worker and the manual lift normally required to separate heavy auger bits from the drive unit. |
|
Q: What is the difference between the standard and -42 variants?
The standard models (160A-16, 160A-18) store the auger bit and drive unit only. The -42 variants (160A-16-42, 160A-18-42) include an additional storage slot for a 42" shaft extension tube, allowing the extension to be stored alongside the bit on the same rack rather than separately. |
|
Q: Can the rack hold multiple auger bits?
The standard rack is designed for one auger bit and drive unit. For multi-bit storage, multiple racks can be positioned side by side. Contact eSkidSteer at 866-757-8337 for options on auger bit storage solutions for larger fleets. |
|
Q: Can the rack be used without the SSQA connection?
Yes — the rack's flat base allows it to stand on the ground independently, serving as a stationary ground-level storage stand. This is useful at fixed drilling locations or staging areas where the skid steer is dedicated to drilling and the rack remains stationary. |
|
Q: Is this compatible with third-party auger bits?
The rack is sized to fit 16" and 18" diameter auger bits respectively. Third-party auger bits of the same diameter that use a standard drive unit collar should be compatible. Verify the bit's outer diameter matches the rack model before ordering. |
