Standard carbide tips used on earth auger pilots would fail rapidly in this impact environment. The DP-C1HDLR is specifically designed for this application.
• Timely pilot replacement prevents tang drive damage that requires full pilot assembly repair — when the DR6 pilot tooth wears through to the base, metal-to-metal contact occurs between the pilot body and the DR-WS-T tang socket, rapidly damaging the drive interface. Replacing the pilot tooth before complete wear prevents this far more expensive failure.
• OEM Digga pilot ensures correct geometry for the DR6 head design — the pilot geometry determines how the auger centers and starts each hole. Non-OEM pilots with different geometry create off-center starting, increased bit vibration, and inconsistent hole entry that accelerates wear on the full bit.
